Reed Richards, a genius by modern day standards is convinced evolution is forced by cosmic energy. The problem, he doesn't have any money to finance his experiment, a trip into space to study a passing cloud. Sucking up his pride, Richards begs his rich, arrogant collage roommate, Victor von Doom for funding. Doom agrees on the condition he be allowed to join in the test. Richards assembles a team to come with him featuring him, Doom, his best friend Ben Grimm, ex flame Susan and her hotheaded brother Johnny. While up in space, their ship passes through the cloud with little effect and they return to Earth. On Earth however, things change as each member experiences new changes leading them to gain power. However though, Dooms new powers unhinge his mental stability and turn him into a monster. Now Doom has sworn revenge against Richards and his super powered friends and will do anything to complete his quest...
