Pin to Win Custom Contest
Ladies and Gentlemen, it's rassling time!

- Both real world wrestlers (past and present) and fictional ones (Kinnikuman/M.U.S.C.L.E., Rumble Roses, Saturday Night Slam Masters, etc.) are acceptable. Your wrestler can come from any media (television, movies, video games, toy lines, comic books, etc.)

- Any style/type of wrestling, real or theatrical, is fair game: Greco-Roman, Freestyle, Collegiate/Scholastic, "Professional"/"Sports Entertainment" (WWE), Submission Grappling, Lucha Libre, Sumo, etc. In the broadest sense, the fighting style in question must place a heavy emphasis on grappling in order to be considered a form of wrestling.

- The athlete/character must be depicted as their wrestling persona. For example: Andre the Giant as Bigfoot from The Six Million Dollar Man or The Rock as Roadblock from G.I.JOE: Retaliation would not be legal submissions. In other words, wrestlers performing in unrelated roles don't count.

- You may not submit non-wrestler characters as wrestlers unless that's something that they actually did, however briefly, as part of their history/fiction. For example: Peter Parker wrestled for a short time after gaining his super powers and before he assumed the role of the crime-fighting Spider-man. Also keep in mind that you must dress the character appropriately, if applicable, to reflect their appearance when they wrestled. For example: the four TMNT all had unique costumes in the Archie comics when they performed as intergalactic wrestlers.

- In addition to the wrestlers themselves, related characters, like league owners, announcers, referees, managers, mascots, etc. are also legal subject matter.

- You may also create a completely original wrestler character if you like. If you do so, don't forget to tell the voters all about him/her in your entry description (Why did they become a wrestler? Do they belong to a league or team? What are their signature moves?)

- Instead of a figure, you may also make a wrestling-centric diorama/playset like a ring, gym, locker room, etc.

- You may utilize whatever base bodies, parts, materials, and tools you like to bring your customized grapplers to life. Who will survive the Royal Customizing Rumble and win the coveted gold, silver, and bronze belts (a.k.a., Figure Realm trophies)?

Would The whole Shield be allowed or could I only submit 1?

All the members of the WWE's Shield are wrestlers, so you can submit custom figures of any, or all, of them for this challenge. If you make all three, then it's up to you whether or not you'd like to submit them together as one entry or divide them up into three individual entries (both arrangements are equally acceptable).

Could I post vigilantie spiderman?

If he actually wrestled in that particular costume, then yes, if not, no.

I haven't seen the latest Spidey flick, but, browsing online, it seems like that Vigilante costume was just inspired by Peter looking at a wrestling poster, which wouldn't be enough by itself.

sorry another question,
would a wrestler be allowed if done in a different attire (completely made up but still based on wrestling), for example a 'what if' type scenario like rock joining legion of doom or mankind as part of the NWO or kane as part of the hart foundation?

Let's keep things limited to the outfits/personae that the wrestlers have actually used over the years, and the groups/factions that they did, or do, belong to, rather than "what if" type scenarios.

While I can understand how such fantasy pairings could be cool, at the same time, if those type of things were allowed, then, out of fairness, participants would also have to permitted to make Spider-man, TMNT, M.U.S.C.L.E., etc. as members of other wrestling leagues/factions which would contradict the rule that you have to depict the character(s) as they actually appeared when they wrestled, and that, I fear, would only be one shakey step away from allowing any character at all to be submitted as a wrestler.

what about famous people who have participated in wrestling events like Mr T, Dennis Rodman, Mike Tyson, Jay Leno, David Arquette etc.

As long as the individual was actively participating in a wrestling event (in other words, not just an observer), then they count. The only catch is that you have to make your custom look how the person was dressed at said event.

would a certain wrestler playing a different wrestler in a different film/tv show etc for example macho man randy savage as Bonesaw from the 2002 Spiderman movie be valid because of this rule....

''The athlete/character must be depicted as their wrestling persona. For example: Andre the Giant as Bigfoot from The Six Million Dollar Man or The Rock as Roadblock from G.I.JOE: Retaliation would not be legal submissions. In other words, wrestlers performing in unrelated roles don't count.''

or is it ok as they're playing a wrestling character?

Yup, as long as the wrestler is still portraying a wrestler, then it's legal. Your Macho Man Randy Savage/Bonesaw in the Spider-man film is a great way to illustrate that. Another example of this would be when The Rock portrayed his father, Rocky Johnson, in an episode of That 70s Show.

what about a comic book character who wrestles?

Wrestlers from any source material, including comic books, are fair game (like the Spider-man and TMNT examples I gave in the rules). It doesn't matter what the character's origins are, as long as they're a wrestler, or a wrestling-related personality, like a manager, commentator, referee, etc.

Do MMA qualify?
avatar

Thursday, February 6, 2014
Yes, Mixed Martial Arts counts, provided that the character in question regularly employs grappling moves during fights. Anybody who's ever watched a MMA match knows how big a factor grappling often plays in the outcome of those bouts. Indeed, any MMA athlete that doesn't have some proficiency in wrestling disciplines is probably going to be in deep trouble when they inevitable get taken down to the mat by their opponent.

That said, please note that a character that practices multiple fighting styles, but none of which are wrestling, would not be a legal submission, because that would not meet the criteria of this contest's theme.

I actually did have MMA listed in the examples of wrestling styles/types in an earlier draft of the contest rules, but it got left on the cutting room floor after one of my edits.

You're welcome. I selected four relevant images, from Figure Realm's wrestling customs category, and then Captain Coder picked which ones to use for the contest page and thumbnail from that group.

Can Luchador inspired outfits be submitted. for example if a certain artist has their own depiction of a Super hero and the clothes resemble a luchador outfit would that be acceptable?

If the character in question isn't actually a wrestler, then no. Having a costume that resembles a wrestler's isn't enough; the character has to actually be a wrestler, or a related personality like a manager, referee, etc.
