Winged Wonders Custom Contest
Flap! Flap! Flap! For this challenge, all you have to do is make a custom figure of any character that has wings.

- Any winged individual, from any media, is fair game. It doesn't matter who they are, or where they come from, only that they possess wings. You can even create a completely original winged character if you like.

- The wings can be natural (feathers, skin, bone, etc.) or artificial (mechanical, energy constructs, etc.) in nature. Keep in mind that wings can come in many shapes/sizes and be made out of all sorts of things.

- Minor winged costume elements or symbols don't count. For example: the bird wings on Captain America's and Thor's headgear or the Evil Horde's bat symbol aren't enough to qualify them as winged characters.

- You may not place wings on a character that doesn't normally have them, unless that's something that actually happened, however briefly, as part of their history/fiction.

- In addition to figures, winged vehicles are also acceptable as entries (Wind Raider, Cobra Rattler, Wonder Woman's Invisible Jet, etc.) Similarly, transforming robots with winged alt modes are also legal subject matter (Jetfire, Starscream, Leader-1, etc.)

- If you choose to submit multiple custom figures/things as a single contest entry, they must ALL have wings. For example: Hawkman and Hawkgirl would be a legal pairing, Archangel and Cyclops would not.

- You may utilize whatever base bodies, parts, materials, and tools you like to bring your winged wonder to life. Which three entities will outwing all the others and capture the gold, silver, and bronze trophies?

You're welcome. What could be better than an angel to represent winged characters, right?

The ideal place for that would be the contest ideas thread in the forums.

Interesting question....Namor and Namorita have functioning ankle wings...do these count?

Yes, even though they're teensy, and located in a weird spot, Namor and Namorita ankle wings count. That said, just like the Captain America and Thor head wing examples I gave in the rules, a character that has ornamental wing designs on their sandals/shoes wouldn't count.

I actually had Namor and Namorita specifically mentioned in an earlier draft of the rules, but it got removed during one of my edits.

Batman Beyond's glider wings would be a-okay. There's no restriction that the wings have to be of the flapping variety--immobile "fixed" wing designs, like those found on jets/planes, are fine.

The rules state that if you enter multiple figures/things as one entry they all have to have wings. So if someone was to enter a winged vehicle that included a pilot figure, would the pilot figure also have to have wings?

Yes, if you want to include a customized pilot with a winged vehicle, then the pilot would also have to have wings in order to conform to the theme of the challenge. However, please note that it's not necessary to include a pilot as part of a vehicle submission, just the winged machine/conveyance by itself is fine.

Unfortunately, that image is going to have to come down and be replaced, because I wasn't thinking when I submitted it to Captain Coder. Don't get me wrong, it's an outstanding custom, but, according to the rules I wrote, you can't submit a custom of a character with wings that normally doesn't have them (which Zarathos doesn't), so, I don't want to have an image up on the contest page that contradicts the rules, which might confuse the challenge's participants.

Anyway, I hope you understand. This is entirely my fault, and I apologize.

It's funny, when I saw it I thought exactly the same thing. Totally understood. Thanks for the recognition anyway!
