Cyborg Science Fair Custom Contest
For this custom contest you will build cyborgs, the amazing freaks of science fiction that possess biological and technological features. The figure you create can be any character that has BOTH machine and organic components incorporated in the body.

Even if it's just a small part, for example a mechanical arm on a human body or an organic human brain within a machine, it will be allowed as an entry.

Humans in mechanical suits for example Iron Man or Steel would NOT be allowed. But versions of War Machine or Arsenal when they gained robotic limbs and other mechanical body parts will be acceptable.

Those with only metallic parts that aren't cybernetic enhancements are NOT allowed. For example Colossus and Wolverine only have flesh and metal in their bodies not machines, so they don’t count unless you will make an original design for them that clearly shows the machine parts.

If you redesign an existing non-cyborg character into a cyborg, it will be acceptable for this contest, but it must show the mechanical addition on the body. Original cyborg characters are also allowed.

Hope you all enjoy this showcase of the tournament of Terminators and battle of Borgs!

Doctor Doom?

Yes but only if you make a Cyborg version of him. It will only fit the theme better that way because Doom is really still a man within a metal suit like Iron Man, unlike for example Darth Vader, who has machine parts to his body already.

Seeing lots of originals so far, this is gonna be an interesting contest also, I have yet another question for yet another idea; would something as simple as a communication device implanted into someones skull count? Also, the character in question is known to often use cybernetics to cheat death, though I'm not sure if they stay after recovery.

Your description sounds like an interesting character, one who relies on cybernetic implants on occasion so yes, go for your custom idea.

prob sounds like a stupid question but....are transformers ok for this comp?

It's a good question. I would say no, they are robots, not cyborgs. However, in one of the Transformers films, I recall that there was one that transformed into a human female as a disguise, so in that case that would be acceptable. So if it's a Transformer that is a "robot in disguise" as real human being or animal that has flesh or skin, etc. then it can qualify as being made up of machine parts and organic tissue.

Would kaine from spiderman count. I know he's not a"cyborg." But he seems like fair game

You're right, he is not a cyborg. So he would only be fair game if you customized him with robotic or machine parts.

I have another question for my other idea because I just noticed something; you keep mentioning "human" in the description; does it have to be a humanoid cyborg or can we make an animal cyborg? (the character in question has an animal brain and organs and possibly main body with various cybernetic enhancements; all metal on the outside but definitely organic compounds; also while we never see it, its canon that the creature was once 100% organic before a criminal organization modified it, which is how I know it has both)

Yes, either human based cyborg or animal based cyborg is okay. Your description of the character fits the theme.

Good suggestions, and yes anything 80's style would rock, it was a decade with many cyborgs.

You're right, Banner; the 80's actually brought us DC's AND Van Damme's Cyborg, haha!

Do nanomachines count if they don't look cybernetic? (ie molecular rearrangement)
avatar
Banner/HULK Inc. -
Friday, December 12, 2014
Yes that will be okay. Nanomachines are a new form of technology that I've seen used in a Bionic character before. As long as any character still has robotic parts that are concealed by human skin, tissue or has organic components and not just completely a machine, then it's a character that's okay for the Cyborg contest.
