Re-Branding Custom Contest
Not for the OCD-at-heart, for this contest you are challenged to take a character that would fit in one toy line and make it entirely of parts belonging to a different one. For instance, take the character of Batman, but build him entirely out of parts from Marvel Legends. Make a He-Man out of all DC Direct parts. This is a Gauntlet challenge of the fodder box with Glory as the reward, for all those who are able to creatively make the most convincing toy-line infiltrators! Full recipe is a must.

Minimal sculpting is allowed, but primary pieces should come from a single toy line. The figure should look as though it belongs with other figures in the line.

No original characters are allowed, but stylistic reinterpretation is. For instance, you may need to make costume adjustments to make Psylocke belong in Masters of the Universe.

I just posted my entry publicly, I thought it wasn't included in the list of entries until I saw it now. It's cool if you think it should be disqualified. But honestly, I really thought my entry wasn't part of the contest

This wasn't your fault. It was a hiccup with the new site, so I'm going to leave it in the contest. I didn't see where you posted it anywhere else on this website, so I think we are okay.

If your submissions arent showing up, try submitting again, I'll be around to approve. When a custom is rejected youre supposed to get an IM automatically saying why.

How about the accessories? (guns, shield, bag, etc.) can we do it scratch built or from other toy line? thanks

Supposed to be minimal sculpting so I'd assume it'd have to be at least an accessory base from another line, might get away with something really small though. The whole "minimal sculpting" thing is whats keeping me out of this contest, most of my customs are like 40-50% sculpt haha

Do what ya gotta do! Don't let the minimal sculpting part scare anyone away. Its only one part of the contest.

Question: Above you mention "Minimal sculpting is allowed"...and I just wanted clarification on that. Can we use as much or as little sculpting, as long as all of the parts are from a different toy line? I ask because my figures are pretty heavy on the sculpt-work. -Thanks

The challenge is to use parts that exist in a particular toy line and stick to that toy line for the entire figure. If you are taking a wrestling figure torso and removing his underpants line, that's fine. If you are taking a wrestling figure torso and sculpting on an entire Iron Man suit, that's not really what this contest is about. The idea would be to get creative with what does exist in a toy line, as much as possible.

Is the custom supposed to look like it fits in that universe? Or just obviously made from pieces from that specific series? Random example ( and not my intended submission) if I wanted to make a spiderman out of assorted neca pieces, would I have to make it look like spiderman if he appeared in aliens (assuming I used aliens marines) ? Or just a neca spiderman? Maybe I am too OCD for this...

Yeah, don't overthink it too hard. A Spiderman that could sit next to the other figures in the line and blend in is generally the idea, but a very common thing people do is to use a wrestling figure to make a superhero, and he's obviously not going to look like a wrestler anymore. And both things are totally fine. And maybe its not what you are going to do, but a Spiderman Marine vs Aliens kinda sounds like a comic book I'd read! lol

What if we use a recipe that has been done before by another customizer?

I see no problem with that, but its more fun if you come up with something no one has seen before, and I've seen your stuff, you can totally do that.
