Sight Unseen Custom Contest
It's time to boldly go where no other customizer on the Realm has gone before! For this contest the goal is to create something that the Realm hasn't seen before. All entries must be the first of there kind on this site. While finding a character that hasn't been done seems intimidating, it's not as hard as you'd think. Some helpful areas to research when looking for your entry are villains of well known characters, obscure members of well known teams (X-Men, Avengers, JLA), supporting characters, and indy comics.

-This contest will rely heavily on Figure Realm's search function, which can be found here. The start of this contest is the cutoff date, so anything posted after this contest has started does not disqualify entries. If anyone needs assistance searching send a PM to Green Skin.

-Variant costumes are not acceptable entries since it's just a character that's already been done except with new clothes. That being said new identities are acceptable. For example Invisible Woman is not an acceptable entry but Malice is, even though both identities belong to Susan Storm.

-Dioramas and vehicles are acceptable entries as long as they contain new content. For example a Dr. Doom's throne room diorama is an acceptable entry, even though a Dr. Doom custom by itself is not.

-As always there are no size restrictions for this contest. You may use any sort of materials, parts, tools or techniques that you wish. Whatever gets the job done.

Please remember to follow the Contest Rules and to Vote Fairly.

If you are talking about Scourge then no, he's already been made several times on the site.

what if you already made a custom for this that NO ONE has done before, but while waiting for for the last day of the contest someone put one up the character....
can I still put it up?

Absolutely!

I feel like the Captain America-Jango Fett is really iffy. Doesn't that simply count as a variant costume? It's still just another Jango Fett in repainted armour.

That's just a fusion character, it's meant to be a combination of Jango and Cap. Granted they didn't try very hard on that name, but I don't want to pull it from the contest when I already said fusions were acceptable.

And what about a "What-If" type primise taking a well known character giving him an entirely or slightly different look based on eye-witness description? Therefore having no yet given name? That would make a character NO ONE has seen. More like a police sketch manifested in a custom figure.

It really depends. If your goal is to make an anonymous character that no one knows, then sure. If your goal is to create a police sketch figure of Wolverine (just an example), then no. I like your idea but it still comes down to the question of whether or not the character you make is a new entry.

I understand... Though I may do the work anyway and leave it up to you. Otherwise it will only be another entry into general customs.

What about a new 2012 to 2013 movie version of a character whose already been in comics and really old tv miniseries?

Only if no one else has done one of them yet.

So, to clarify, original creations (heroes or villains the customizer comes up with) are fair game?

Thanks in advance!

How about a team entry? If so, would all characters have to be "new" or at least one?
avatar
Green Skin -
Monday, January 28, 2013
There are a few guidelines for teams. 1)The team entry must be 'new'. For example, the Original X-Men team wouldn't be allowed since their is already a team entry for it. 2)At least 1 team member must be 'new'. 3)Avoid reusing customs you've already submitted to the showcase. Using some is fine, but the entry should be mostly newly made customs.

Well for example there hasn't been a Robert Kirkland Langstrom custom AKA Man bat from batman...

Wednesday, January 30, 2013
Since there are already some Man-Bat customs listed here you couldn't do that character, but you could do his human form since that would be 'new'. If that's what you mean by mutations, then yes you can do them.

What about someone who has yet to appear in a certain universe, for instance a Wally West flash from Young Justice? Or a Justice League Unlimited Guy Gardner?

Sorry no, the characters from the animated universes are just too similar.

As long as there is a significant difference from the main universe version it is acceptable.
