Like many people I was psyched to see that we were getting a new Beast figure...and like most people I thought that while it's a great figure, there's definitely room for improvement. While I like the very Jim Lee accurate screaming head, Beast is also famous for his calm and intellectual demeanor, so I knew I wanted him to have a neutral face. I was initially going to heat up the original head sculpt, force the jaw closed, and cool it to keep it in place, probably adding glue. However, that only made him look like he was bearing his teeth and growling. So I cut the bottom half of his jaw off, chipped away at it, re positioned it and glued it in place. I then used Aves Apoxie Sculpt to and sculpted over the bottom jaw, adding his two teeth. After the sculpting was done I proceeded to paint. Unfortunately, the paint I had on hand did not match the rest of the figure. I could never get the colors saturated enough. So after painting the face, I decided to repaint the entire body. I used a combination of dark blue washes and light blue dry brushing to bring out the detail. I am also planning on repainting the screaming face to match. Let me know what you guys think! ![]() |
