This figure was made from a Sota Street Fighter Balrog, ML Bishop (variant) head, and other figure odds & ends. This custom is based on the Marvel’s 90’s Age of Apocalypse character design of Bishop as he is seen in the Age of Apocalypse crossover. On Marvel Universe Earth-295 designated “the Age of Apocalypse” Charles Xavier died before forming the X-men and in his stead the X-men were formed by Magneto, not before the mutant Apocalypse practically conquered the Earth. In this reality, Bishop was the only person left with the memories of the normal X-universe where Xavier lived due to Bishop already being out of synch with time. Since the time that the normal X-men failed to stop Legion from accidentally killing Xavier and causing an instant time disruption the world over, Bishop wandered the world not sure of his own memories. Hiding from both mutants and humans, he saw the rise of Apocalypse first hand. Unknown to him within his fractured mind is a hope brighter than any this dismal world can ever ask for…first hand proof of a world where Apocalypse does not rule.
Customizer side note: While making these most of these Age of Apocalypse customs I see that Marvel did not have a set character design for most of these characters as they changed from book to book. Bishop looked different in almost every book he appeared in. From his outfit to that little mechanical sensor on his head, so I went with the look from the AOA omega book and his look from Astonishing X-men.
