From Clive Barker, the creator of Hellraiser, comes Nightbreed. Devil Lude was one of the more prominent monsters who lived in Midian. His horned visage and black skin immediately make people think of the Devil himself, but Lude just wants to exist in peace without the naturals trying to kill him. He is friends with another Breed called Leroy Gomm, and is seen defending himself against some of the armed locals from nearby Shere Neck as they attack Midian. To make Lude, I used a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Spike figure. I added the hands of a Pylean Demon of the same line, and the feet of an Xmen 3 Beast figure. From the waste down, I took some artistic license, as Lude is never shown fully, always being filmed from the waste up. It made sense to me that if he had big clawed monster hands, then he would have big clawed monster feet! I sanded away all detail from Spike's pants and covered the seams where the new feet were attached. I used epoxy to make the jacket, touched up with Sculpy. I also used Sculpy to make the little balls that line the edge of the jacket, as well as the sash around his waste. The head was created by building up the length of the head and sculpting the chin pieces, fangs, and some areas around the edge of the face. The horns were the hardest thing to figure out. I bought a miniature goat toy, but the horns were too big. I ended up having to cut them down a lot and then build them back up in the desired shape with epoxy. They were very difficult to get right. The paint job was very tedious as well because of the patterned jacket. After a lot of hard work, he came together well! I included a publicity picture of Lude for comparison.
