This is last of my Nightbreed custom figures for the time. Here I have Inspector Joyce, played by actor Hugh Quarshie. He is an original character created for the film who was not in the novel Cabal. He is investigating the string of family murders committed by Dr. Decker and is led to believe by the good doctor that Boone is the killer. He is manipulated by Decker throughout the film, but is the one human other than Lori who does not agree with the local authorities about killing what they don't understand. As the attack on Midian comes together, Joyce becomes increasingly suspicious of Decker, but then dies at his hand. To make Joyce, I used the legs of an Angel figure from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the torso of Giles from the same line, the trench coat and arms from a Constantine figure, and the head and hands from a Marvel Legends Mr. Terrific figure. My first attempt failed, so this one had to be remade. On the head, I had to get rid of the exaggerated brow and the "T" that was carved across his face. I sculpted a new brow and dremeled the eyes to place them a bit higher. The trench coat was molded to the upper body, so I used the dremel to completely hollow out the coat. I removed the legs, arms, head, and groin of the Giles figure, then cut down the back and sides until it fit properly into the trench coat cavity, being carful not to damage the front. I then attached the lower body (legs) using Angel. The arms were too long and had to be shortened. I then attached the Mr. Terrific head and hands. This figure started off as a simple project, but after the failed first attempt, it turned into a huge undertaking. It all ended well, though! I included a screenshot from the movie for comparison.
