More experimenting with resin 3D printing. I printed at 3 different sizes to see what would work best for 6 and 7 inch figures. It's funny, I've printed a few different heads and so far the difference between 6 and 7 inch scale head size is only 1mm, but it makes a huge difference.

The ponytail is separate so I can use a small Revoltech joint to articulate it. You could also simply use a rod to make a swivel.

(Is Revoltech still around? haha)

Damn that DOES sound like a pain...gr8 result tho. If I had access to that kinda tech I'd print actors' faces...

What would be great is if I could collaborate with a 3D modeler, where they can sculpt heads/items and I can print them to sell. But there doesn't seem to be much interest in that.

The next best thing is for us, as a community, to pool money together and pay someone to sculpt heads. So lets say 100 of us pitch in $2. We use that money to pay someone to sculpt a head, then we all get the model to do whatever we want with it.

Then people can print it at home, or pay someone like me 5 bucks or whatever to make prints for them.

You can already buy models of famous people too, on places like TurboSquid.

Is this an original design or a template? either way kudos on taking that step onto 3d prints...seems many years away 4 me.

It's the same process as the Ventress head I posted, I use a crappy low-poly model and then rework it to make it suitable for printing and use on action figures.

So I have to do stuff like smooth all the surfaces, hollow it out or make a starter hole for a neck peg, adjust sections that would be too thin/small to print, adjust sections so they don't interfere with articulation, make sure there are no "holes" in the model or else it won't print properly, etc.

It's a pain in the ass, I wouldn't post it if all I did was copy/paste it into the printer and pressed a button haha.
