Well I repainted everything but the dead flesh. I did add different washes over the dead flesh so I guess I repainted everything.. Base coat is Black Metallic to have it look like wet bloody/dirty leather from the underworld. (I got to down I think) I added a xmas red blood wash at spots I think it would be intense at. The thighs get a lot of touching same with the arms. The side/back splatter is just splatter from ripping out the heart. Since he can not reach that area well its pretty much not smeared much. I then went & added some black wash to add drying blood with dirt look. The underworld is never clean! =) I then went around & did a trick to do some splatter in areas I only wanted it done on. Nope I did not use a airbrush & paper with holes. I used a brush then blew hard to hit my areas. OMG I was light headed about 5 times... After I let the splatter dry a bit I went & added a dry metallic black wash to mix it in with the rest. I did a even lighter wash on the back splatter like I said he could not reach that area much. I went around & added silver metallic to the pins that was not splattered. Then I sealed the bad boy up. I then made a custom base with blood splatter effects. My first blood type custom so let me know what you think. I think for using non bloody red expensive paint the blood actually came out pretty darn good. I know the pinheads are out of whack I been slowly trying to get them back to the way they are supposed to be. I am tempted to keep this & not sell... Hmmmm tuff decisions! ![]() |

I still got to go through boxes I have no clue where I put that real nail pinhead. The work room/display room is such a mess.
the one the right
I tried looking fast for my metal nail pinhead. I will continue the search after the doctors tomorrow. I just can not stand up for to long or I get dizzy.
I love that blood splatter on the above photo. I will do another with that look since I got the other figures still but one on the far left. The one above I did with blood on the face for fun. I was thinking people can think it was just closeup splatter from ripping the heart out or took a bite out of it. What I was going for the bite type thing. Yeah not totally true to the movies but hey this guy would do it.
A dremel does so much stuff from cuttin material to sanding to engraving. It even polishes stuff & drills. It is a must have tool for a customizer I think. I recommend a cordless one but those batteries do loose charge to fast.
They come with extra tips to do random things check amazon they got some nice marked down ones often.
That was the hardest part of this figure. I put him inside a box then I gobbed up a mid size brush held it far away then blew hard. I kept moving closer if it did not get on it really. It sucked doing it since I kept missing the brush & just blowing air to nothing really. It would only do one spray per brush full. I also did less paint on it then got closer for little bit bigger splats.
Its all about the distance really. I used a round tip if that helps. I tried whipping it effect but it got on everything but the figure...
I bought a can of air so now I do not need to get so light headed when I do more.
Also forgot to mention I did tweaking after the spray so it looks more realish. A nice wash also helps on many things.
that sounds so seriously complecated! I have no distance perseption myself, so that would be bloody imposible, excuse the pun.
by the way, got another question for you, since the figure's so small, how would you get the nails in and also, where would you find nails small enough to look like pins?
Yeah it was my first blood splatter effect I just think things through first. I always got multi projects going if I need to think more on one.
The figure is about 7-8 inches tall? They sell very small nails I used to be a carpenter so I knew about nail sizes. You can use a dremel to modify the heads as needed as well.
There is already a hellraiser with metal nails that is retail. That is where I got the idea to do it on these. It is a more detailed one but skinnier/younger version. I am not sure if I could post a photo of it in there thread just cause its for this custom only? If I can let me know I will post a photo of the real metal pin one.

Purple nice tip thanks will try that next time. This blood looks perfect thank god. I used xmas red with some black metallic wash. I had to go back many times to make it look perfect for what I wanted. The only thing this is missing is a sweet backdrop. I just was to lazy to google for nice horror type backdrops. I rather paint & customize then google these days.
You remember what hellraiser movie he did the jesus pose on? I want to go back & watch to get inspiration for the next one. It has been years since I watched the newer ones & many many years since the old ones.
