Hi guys this is my first custom on this new account. I've taken to calling him blade (as a reference to Cpt. William Blade from army men air attack). Anyway I always liked how in The force unleashed at the beginning of the game the Stormtroopers fighting on Kashyyyk are wearing a cross between phase II clone armor and Stormtrooper armor so I wanted to make a few with my own spin on them. At first I tried to recreate the exact helmet from the Xbox 360/ps3 version of the game, but I couldn't make it look quite right; so instead I chose to use the helmet from the patrol trooper as it close enough and I think with the all white paint and 501 paint job its quite unique(if you do decide to use this helmet on the base Stormtrooper body you will have to dremel out a larger hole so the helmet will fit the ball joint). The first thing I did was remove the small plates off the belt as well as the E11 holster. I also picked up a Jetpack from juictinscustoms on ebay and painted it to match the figure. Now on to the paints. I used predominately citadel paints, but the first thing I did was paint the entire figure with black primer, then to achieve a dull white painted the entire armor set in these colors in this order: Mechanicus standard gray (2 thin coats), Ulthuan Gray (4 Thin coats), and finally highlighted the sharpest edges of the armor with 2 coats of white scar. for the blues on the sides/cheeks of the helmet and the rest of the armor I put down 2 thin coats of Thousand sons blue and then a super thinned down glaze of Kantor blue to darken things up a little bit and make it look more like the 501st in revenge of the sith (the center stripe on the helmet I left Thousand sons blue for some contrast). the visor was painted with testers acrylic gloss black, and the other black parts of the helmet were panted with a mixed flat black and mechanicus standard gray(50/50) and dry brushed with mechanicus standard gray. the tube stripes and recessed panels on the back of the helmet were also painted with mechanicus standard gray. the jet pack was painted with the same method as the whites and blues of the armor but with added leadbealcher (metallic gunmetal) accents as well, then drybrushed with a very subtle light silver (runefang steel). The reds on the jetpack and helmet were painted with knorne red. I also painted the DC 15 carbine blaster black and drybrushed it to give it a subtle but rugged finish. the stand was painted to match the trooper cause I thought that would be cool too, used Yriel yellow for the star wars logo. This guy isn't exactly 100% done just yet, I plan on adding some weathering to the white of the armor (mud/blastmarks) as well as some chipping on the blues, but until I get a new sponge I'm just going to have to wait. I plan on making more so when I post up new pictures of other troopers I'll throw this guy in for a comparison shot. I had a lot of fun with this guy, and ill admit I'm a little rusty when it comes to painting, but I look forward to improving my skills as time goes on. let me know what you think, and I hope everyone has a great day! Please wait... |
