For the fourth Avenger on my MCU Avengers OG6 list (and the only one with a fourth solo movie announced), we have Thor!

Thor is made using a 3-pack Infinity War Thor. Now for this one, I decided to go with a look that the MCU didn’t fully commit to – the eye patch look! Although I get that the idea to give Thor a new eye represents a rebirth of sorts (or an excuse to cut costs on adding the CG eye patch), I personally like that his missing eye represents his growth as a character. He lost his eye to Hela during a time of self-doubt, when he was blind to his own potential of being the god of thunder, acting like he was the “god of hammers” instead. So I think keeping the eye patch is a reminder of his development similar to a warrior wearing his battle scars proudly.

Another thing I changed is his hairstyle. Now it has been established that he really liked his long locks but I think it can be quite a distraction during a fight. So as a compromise, I gave him Viking-inspired braids. I sanded his hair and glued a braid which came from a Sota Street Fighter Cammy. I then added sculpted details to complete his Viking braids. I also had another 3-pack Thor (which had the infamous broken shoulder-bicep peg issue) so I had an extra head and I was able to make a helmeted version. Similar to the other head, I sanded the hair out, added the extended braid part from Cammy, and then sculpted the helmet over it. For the helmet wings, I used plastic from a DVD case and added faux leather for the embossed part of the wings.

As for the body, I wanted to have a modernized classic costume. I started painting black over the painted lightning bolts. I also wanted Meginjord to pop out a bit so painted it silver and gold. I placed thumb tacks for his armor plates/discs. This leaves the option of having the cape removable. The wired cape was made by awesome mom. Since the classic comic colors popped too much for my liking, I decided to paint his pants a subdued blue hue instead of the bright blue comic pants. For the yellow accents on his classic costume arms and legs, I used gold instead to stick with the modernized look.

Now for the accessories, I went all out here. Since the 3-pack Thor didn’t have Mjolnir nor Stormbreaker, I had the option to make my own design tweaks. I decided to incorporate round watch batteries for that electric aesthetic. I made three Mjolnirs, one for default poses, one for flight poses, and one for spinning poses. The Mjolnirs were made using Lego pieces, skewer sticks, watch batteries, and faux leather. As for Stormbreaker, I used Lego build-able figure pieces along with other toy accessories (as well as a round watch battery) for the hammerhead and axe parts. I decided to give it a traditional straight handle made from a skewer stick with faux leather wrappings. Now I didn’t want to remove Groot’s involvement so the Groot parts are the ones supposedly binding everything together which were made using old earphone cords. I gave Stormbreaker a mix of silver and gold as a tribute to both MCU and comic (Beta Ray Bill’s) versions. The icing on the cake would be the lightning effects which came from an old Steel (Shaq) action figure. I painted them blue to match Thor’s lightning in the MCU and added wires on them so they can be posed in different ways.

I also threw in extra hands from Iron Fist, one pair for harnessing lightning and one pair of fists for his thundering punches. And with that, my version of Thor is complete!
