Okay, here goes. From Superboy Vol. I #72 (April, 1959) we have Rebello, an imperfect Superboy Robot who was created accidentally by the Boy of Steel as a "perfect" duplicate, but somehow Superboy reversed some of the mechanisms in the robot, making him left handed instead of right (yeah, I know). Because the robot was now declared as imperfect, he was dubbed "Rebello" and set about trying to prove that he was better at being Superboy than Superboy.
This was a pretty simple custom to put together. I took the DC Direct Crisis Series 3 Earth-Prime Superboy, and removed his hands. Next, I took a set of hands from the DC Direct Silver Age Legion of Super-Heroes set that were the exact opposite of the original hands on the Earth-Prime Superboy (open right hand and clenched fist left hand), and gave these hands two generous coats of Testors Acryl Peach, followed by two generous coats of Flat Clear. Once the hands had dried, I attached them to the Superboy body. Finally, I slapped on new chest and cape symbols with a little glue (both symbols were made by hand at a larger size, and then photocopied and shrunk to proper size...however, unlike previous hand drawn symbols I had done before, these are drawn with a slight curve to each of the sides as well as a slightly smaller size to more closely match the look of the "S" symbol of the late Silver Age/Bronze Age of Superboy stories), and TA-DA...Rebello, the Human Robot and adversary of Superboy!!!!
Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.
