With Godzilla and Kong out in theaters, I wanted to create one of my favorite characters from the Showa Era of Godzilla films, Terror of Mechagodzilla, Katsura Mifune. Played by Tomoko Ai, I loved this character as a kid and only realized that the US version I saw in the 80's-90's was actually censored due her sacrifice to end Mechagodzilla. Spoiler alert, aliens make her a cyborg, planting the Mechagodzilla controller within her. It is only because of Katsura's decision to shoot the controller that Mechagodzilla is defeated. In doing so, she dies. At the time, the US did not wish to promote suicide for obvious reasons.

This was a straightforward build. I used an origins Marvel Legends Black Widow body with a bootleg Black Widow head. I used sculpey for her headband. I swapped her belt and gave her Spider Gwen's closed left hand. I do not remember where her gun came from. The body was painted with metallic silver and her hair was painted black. I think it turned out well-enough and it makes me wonder what other human characters from the Godzilla movies would make fun custom figures. Thanks for looking!
