Snake Eyes is one of the original members of G.I. Joe and a key character of the G.I. Joe franchise. He is a westerner that was taken in by the Arashikage Ninja Clan and trained in the Martial Arts. He now serves as a ninja commando and Martial Arts trainer of G.I. Joe. In his comic book introduction, he was written by Larry Hama and drawn by Herb Trimpe. Ever since his introduction, Snake-Eyes has been a very popular character in all forms of G.I. Joe media including toys, comics, cartoons, animated movies and live-action movies.
