Custom #:13440
Name:Guy
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Street Fighter
Creator:Renmauzo
Date Added:March 20, 2009
Base Figure:Sota Fei Long
Height:6.00 inches
Hi everyone, Renmauzo here with custom no. 30, and this time I'm bringing one for my Street Fighter Alpha 3 set, Guy, from Final Fight fame! This one is a Sota Fei Long from head to ankle, with the running shoes from an LCBH Ann O'Brien fig, with her jacket modified for the gi. The hands come from a CvsSNK2 Ryu, and the cuffs and hair are sculpt. The sash by the way is wire ribbon that I spray painted yellow.None of the reference pics that I could find (and they are hard to find!) had the kanji that I think is supposed to be on the right side of the gi, but if someone has a pic with it on there or I can find one, I'll re-visit the figure to add it on. Hope you all like, and I'll be back tomorrow with more.

Cheers!

Ya, I know what you mean, it's just that a waist that small seemed ridiculous, but I think I've found a solution fro that for the next version. I think that using a Sota Remy upperbody with Gen or Fei Long legs will solve the waist problem, and of course I'll make sure the kanji and fishnet are there on the next one. Thanks for the critique!

Guy has a more skinny waist and a wider chest, I think the hair is ok, it's basically the body that don't do the trick

Sent the pic to your email. Yeah, the hair is a bit much. He has fairly close croped hair with swoopy bangs. But one other detail forgotten is the netting under his gi that goes up to the neck. Easy to do with a Sharpee pen.

Thanks for the critique Patraw! PureToreador is going to hook me up with a sample that has the kanji, so when I re-visit this character (when I do a Final Fight line) I'll have one that is proper right away. As for the hair, I used an in game sprite as my reference (all I could find, add hard to work with, lol) from his SF3A appearance where he has brown hair. Again, on the next version, I'll do my best to get him Final Fight accurate. Again, thanks for the post and the ideas; the climb to excellence is a steep and treacherous one!

The body is pretty good, but the hair isn't working in my opinion--it's too thick/much and I believe Guy has black hair (he is Japanese after all), not brown. At least in Final Fight he had black hair, maybe they lightened it up for his SF appearances. My recommendation would be to resculpt the hair more sparingly, possibly sanding down the underlying head scult down to "baldness" beforehand, and paint the new hair black (add brown highlights/dry-brushing if you really like the brown look, but leave a black undercoat).
About the kanji---there should be some official Capcom artwork of it floating around somewhere, you just have to dig for it. It's possible one of the SF games might have a bonus art gallery where you could see it too.

I have several pics from the three Alpha strategy guides. Give me your email and I'll try and get them to you.
