"Even other monsters fear him, so expect a clobbering.
He shrugs off explosions. Good luck."

- Shambler description, Quake manual

"Shuffling towards him in the darkness was the gigantic, blasphemous form of a thing not wholly ape and not wholly insect. Its hide hung loosely upon its frame, and its rugose, dead-eyed rudiment of a head swayed drunkenly from side to side. Its forepaws were extended, with talons spread wide, and its whole body was taut with murderous malignity despite its utter lack of facial description."

- Howard Philips Lovecraft and Hazel Heald,
The Horror In The Museum

Ferocious abominations that first appeared in id Software's 1996 Quake personal computer (PC) video game. Shamblers are incredibly durable and possess enormous physical strength--they can easily dismember a human in seconds. Even worse, like the legendary Greek god Zeus, Shamblers can generate, and toss, deadly bolts of lightning. These beasts have terrible tempers--any other monster unfortunate enough to strike a Shambler while trying to target you will suffer swift, and usually fatal, retaliation. A Shambler's jaws, hands, and feet are always splattered with fresh blood and ichor, the gory remnants of previous victims. Like the rest of the creatures in Quake, Shamblers are the unnatural offspring of the fertility goddess, Shub-Niggurath (a fictional deity in the Cthulhu Mythos).

I might have to read some of his stuff. I know Cthulhu showed up on Cartoon Network's Adventures of billy and mandy and a bunch of other things. Who knows, maybe in his will he stated that his stuff should be free for everyone to use. It would be a nice change of pace. I know Masamune Shirow who does Ghost In THe Shell is creating a universe that anyone can feel free to use to create their own comics in, or he was as it was a while ago that I read about it.

Lovecraft's descendants might not like it, but I think Lovecraft would approve. He encouraged other authors to incorporate characters/deities/objects from his mythos into their stories, and he did likewise. I think he would have been flattered to see his creations popping up in all sorts of media.
Sandy Peterson, one of the guys that worked on Quake, designed the Cthulhu mythos-based pen and paper RPG, that's largely why Quake has such a heavy Lovecraftian influence.

Lovecraft doesn't really have any immediate family, but I'm sure his distant relations are gnashing their teeth... much like this fellow!

I'm really starting to get jealous of your skills lol. You so need to teach us how to do this. I bet HP lovecraft's family is annoyed they didn't get copyrights on his stuff as it keeps popping up all over.
