Ymir the Frost Giant (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure
Custom #: | 14164 | Name: | Ymir the Frost Giant | Custom Type: | Action Figure | Toy Series: | Marvel Legends | Creator: | Wings | Date Added: | April 20, 2009 | Base Figure: | LCBH BAF Pitt | Height: | 12.00 inches |
I began this beast back when I made Odin but he got sidetracked after I got fed up of sanding his legs. Over the period of a couple of months I added any spare bits of left over apoxie to his wrists until they were built up. After finally seeing Hulk vs Thor I had the urge to finish him off. I sculpted the shoulder spikes, head, mouth, nose and wrists. Smoothed the thousers calfs a little and took ideas from different references such as the cartoon, Ultimate Alliance game and comic images. Then I used a couple of packs of hot glue sticks to really mess up the surface into a ruggid icy look. I used loads around the mouth to achieve the beard then used several alternating coats of Skull white, blue craft spray for the lowlights and chrome plasticote to really add that frozen shine. I love the texture I achieved and he's one hell of a heavy bugger. I know in the comics he's a lot taller so he may be better suited to the Marvel Universe line but this satiates my hunger for Frost Giants for now :p Please wait... |

Thanks again for the comments. I'm pulling myself out of retirement and looking to get my username set back up again on the forums to answer any PM's I may have there.
This Frost Giant sold a couple of years back when I was making customs full time. If I ever manage to secure another Pitt BAF I'll be sure to give it another go
Nice job, BTW. Hot glue is a very versatile medium provided you know how to handle it... and you seem to know!
Look forward to seeing yours jazz04porche and I have no idea what you're reffering to warrack being the simple and innocent soul I am...
I love this Wings. The hot glue really works well for that icy look. Much better than trying to achieve the effect with paint. I'm loving all the hot glue stuff you've been up to with your recent customs.
Hmm, there's no way you can talk about hot glue without sounding like a perv really...
