When the Panther figure came out, all it looked like was a potential Moonknight thru the eyes of this customizer, but the series started to pick-up and now their version of Moon Knight is due out. No worries, as customizers, we can always one up them store boughts, and give them a unique twist.
Have always felt that this midnight marauder should come with a crescent shaped cape, no matter what. Every hero has their defining trait, and the half-moon cape was his. Finally found a cape suitable from a glow-in-the-dark Ghost figure. The cape was not only crescent shaped, it was about the right size for a 3 3/4 inch figure. Just had to trim the top off and sand it down a bit. While trying to position the cape onto the back, several angles looked good, and seriously couldn't decide which to go with. Having the cape flipped up, like he was swooping down, was very dramatic, but also liked having the cape just in a rest position. In the end, both angles won out, so the only alternative was to add a latch (from a Bionicle piece) to allow articulation in the cape. The latch allowed drawbridge movement, so simply attached one end to the top of the cape and secured the other end on the back of the figure. Apoxie was used to reinforce the hold. A piece of white vinyl was then cut to overlap the cape, concealing the mechanism, and also double as the front of the cape. The cowl was sculpted onto the head (as to keep neck articulation). Just covered the neck/mouth area with extra pieces of white vinyl and sculpted the front to smooth out the details. All we need now is the chopper and Frenchie and maybe a coupla gallons of wild turkey!
