The Demon Brothers were the first enemies to appear in the Naruto series. Rogue ninja from the village hidden in the mist, they were sent to assassinate a bridge builder Naruto and team were protecting. Quickly attacking,the Demon Brothers were forced to engage the entire party. Attacking with their gauntlets and claws, the Demon Brothers became a match for team 7.

Though the Demon Brothers appeared for roughly 5 minutes in only one episode, I thought they were one of the coolest enemies, of course a figure had to be made. While I plan on making both brothers, I started with the older brother, Gouzu. In the series he wears his gauntlet on his right arm, bears a black coat, has a gas mask with two tanks and his headband bears one horn(Meizu wears a gas mask with a single tank and two horns on his headband, this attributes to their Demon Brothers nickname)

For a base I used a Ninja Brue from the Batman Begins series and went from there. The gas mask is hand sculpted with a minor variant, the tanks have a more sleeker, modern look then the ones in the series. The headband is also sculpted. This was my first time at sculpting hair and I am pleased at how it came out, it looks allot like it does in the manga.

The coat was made from the batman armor that came with Ninja Bruce. I had two figures and I took the capes off the batman pull over armor and stitched them together to produce the coat, something that turned out nicely and fits him well.

The entire upper torso was painted flat black with the undershirt being painted white. In the series we only get quick glimpses of his clothes under the coat so I improvised and made my own design.

Before I go into the arms sculpting, its only right to talk about the Brothers style of attacking so that everyone will know the actual function of the gauntlets. When stalking a target the brothers hide patiently in the background, either in the shadows or by using their ninjutsu to hide in a puddle or source of water. When the enemy passes by them they come out from hiding behind the target. One brother then throws the other at the target.

Why would they do this? Gouzu wears his gauntlet on his right arm while Miezu wears his on the left, however both gauntlets are connected by a razor chain. The brother in mid flight wraps his end of the chain around the target and lands. Both brothers then pull in different directions and the razors on the chain rip the enemy into dozens of pieces. If the chain gets stuck or they need to attack more then one person, the brothers disengage the chain from their gauntlets and attack with metal claws treated with poison that are attached to the fingers of their gauntlet hand, the poison killing in a matter of hours in not treated.

I cut off the spikes on the bottom of each arm and sculpted the gauntlets. Using a chain from a knock off dragon lego set, I put one lope in the drying sculpt and let it dry. After it dried I cut a small slit in it so I could take the longer portion of chain off if I wanted to or put it back on. I then painted the metal loops grey and the mid sections black. My biggest regret was the fact I couldn't make the claws on the fingers. Due to the hand being in the closed fist position and the small piece of chain being really close to the hand I couldn't make good claws.

Im very pleased with the way this turned out, it being my first "official" custom where I had to sculpt and repaint allot. Hope you enjoy the figure and Naruto rant.
