Greetings fellow customizers and talented artists. As you all probably noticed last year, Toys R Us had tons of its exclusive Diamond Emma Frost figures on clearance. I picked up a few knowing in the back of my head that the bodies would make good fodder for customizing figures in the future. And so the future arrived.

And now to the customizing: I removed original Diamond Emma Frost head and sanded down the X-men logos on the cape and belt, as well as the glove seams on the arms and the area where the gloves end and the arm begins. I severed the forearms about two-thirds of the way up to remove the hands and painted the arms, part of the torso and upper legs with pink acrylic paint. The rest of the figure, which includes the ribbon around the neck, the chest, the hip area and legs, were painted with several coats of scarlet red. I painted the neck area above the ribbon a fleshtone color, in that this is where obviously the body would connect with the head. I then painted the outside of the cape with several coats of scarlet red and the inside with one coat of crimson red, followed by four coats of scarlet red. I finished off the inside of the cape by drybrushing crimson red.

I then took an old 90’s Toy Biz Scarlet Witch’s head and upper arms/ gloves to accessorize the work-in-progress Diamond Emma Frost figure. The head was perfect in that it was ridiculously out of proportion with the original body, but to scale with the Emma Frost body. I shaved the neck off completely and dremmeled a hole on the bottom of the head in order to fit it onto the Emma Frost body's neck. I painted with purple acrylics on the eyelid area to give the illusion of eye shadow. I then painted the hair with brown acrylics, dry-brushed with a different shades of brown and even a hint of brick red. To finished it off, I put a slight wash of flat black on the hair to give it more a sense of realistic hair.

I then added the finished head and gloves onto the Emma Frost body, and my interpretation of the Scarlet Witch was completed. I am overall pleased with the final product of my first female action figure custom. Any questions comments are welcomed.
