Wriggling abominations seen in Konami's 1991 Operation C Gameboy video game (the 'C' stands for 'Contra'). These monstrous organisms were genetically engineered by Black Viper, presumably by mixing alien DNA with that of Earth insects. Experimental Squid Lice Mandiabla can only be encountered in the fourth stage of the game, where they crawl forth from the walls to attack Contra operative Corporal Lance "Scorpion" in great numbers. In close quarters, these mutant arthropods can easily slice an adult human's legs out from under them with their pincer jaws. Fortunately, they're relatively slow, so this unpleasant fate can usually be avoided, so long as there is room to maneuver around them. Unfortunately, the creatures can also strike from a distance by vomiting up pairs of floating acidic spores that dissolve flesh on contact. Materials: Newsprint, Kleenex, white glue, wire twist ties, nail polish, and acrylic paint. Dimensions: 8.1 cm/3.2 in. x 2.3 cm/0.9 in. (widest point x highest point) Articulation: Two points: Pincer jaws. Time: Two days; September 19 and 20, 2009. ![]() |

Yeah, these guys remind me of those critters that Kahn sticks in the guys' ears too in Star Trek 2.
asch: No, I wasn't thinking about making a diorama here, although I do have an idea for a Contra diorama/play set that I would like to sculpt someday. I just thought I'd stick some military-looking figures in the large shot to add a bit of the Contra magic to the proceedings.
sephiroth: Cactaurs are pretty easy to sculpt, they're really nothing more than a collection of cylinders if you break them down to their basic shapes.
This is awesome!!!!!!!
MOAR vintage video game customs!!! MOAR!!!
Holy Cow! I was thinking the same thing but I wasn't sure anyone would catch the reference.. I had nightmares about those dang things.
