This was one character I have been going back and forth on designs for awhile. Crisco and I talked about it more than a year ago.. I had started one and ended up scrapping it. Wanted something different, was really leaning towards a Prince Vultan/Hawkman design from the Flash Gordon comic so I gravitated to the DC Universe Hawkman. The Head is a DC Direct Else Worlds Green Lantern.. He had those really cool goggles and that leather cap, perfect for what I wanted to do. I tried to keep the original character's color scheme but updating it with a metallic/ Silverhawk shine. I used the straps and loin clothe from the 2002 Stratos figure. I inverted the colors on the loin clothe so that the feathers matched the wings. Thought a bird-man needed some talons so, Raven Spawn donated those. The wings are from a Zoids figure I got many years ago and that had broken during one of my moves. I removed the wings from the HOM Wolverine's flight pack and attached the folding wings from the Zoids toy. The Wings do open and fold..When the Wings are spread the measure close to 12 inches wide from tip to tip. The main purpose of using the HOM flight pack was to use the spring loaded action feature so that the wings could tuck further behind him and then pop out.. well it worked for first dozen times and then the locking mechanism wouldn't catch..So, I took it apart and fixed it, just to have it not catch after the next dozen times.. at that point I decided to make the wings/flight pack removable. The Wings/Flight Pack on the back are attached with a magnet and when worn, held in place by a piece that I took off of a Rocketeer bendy toys rocket pack.. Comments and Feedback welcome..  |

My Eternia is like this.. I apologize for the poor mechanics but, here we go..
I envision a very Imperial Rome like society structure..very Gladiator like.
It is a dark time for Eternia.. It has been for hundreds of years.. Skeletor sits on his immortal throne. Once a human emperor, Skeletor sought to keep his power through black magic. In his quest, he tried everything. It drove him beyond insanity. Then one day he was successful but with a price, leaving him in a state we are familiar with. The face no longer there, just a skull and eyes that glow with madness..
So over the hundreds of years the eternian society crumbles into moral decay and ruin, much like its leader..Though there is no real threat to Skeletor's power, the suns of eternia are blocked from all the ash and pollution that fills the air from the giant factories that produce Skeletor's war engines and weapons.. The great cities are piles of rumble and ruin from Skeletor's forces crushing any hint of rebellion. Very little remains of the old world..
There is one great city left on Eternia. Horgoth..It is a huge city,the seat of Skeletor's power.. his capital.. there are the most imposing buildings there.. huge twisted. knarled towers reach so high, you would think they kept the sky from falling. Palaces and monuments to Skeletor and his power stand in stark contrast to the what lines the streets of Horgoth.. One could see at the root of this city is the crumbling world of the people who are forced to live there. Small, bleak, polluted streets create a labyrinth of misery and crime. There is no light that reaches these streets and paths. there is no hope here either.
Gladiator fights distract the populace from the horror and decline all around them...Many of Skeletor's generals take part in the bloody sports to show off their might and ability to crush any who oppose them..
Until He-Man, a captured barbarian from the north, begins to win against the insurmountable odds and gains favor from others force to compete in the death games.
This is an older, more weary version of Stratos .. Most of Stratos' race was capture and their wings pinioned when they attempted to repel Skeletor's forces from raiding their aviaries and the young/eggs that were kept there.
Stratos escapes after befriending He-Man and returns to his home to find very little left.. He searches for for the tomb of his fathers and find it untouched..
There he finds the armored flight suit and the ancient weapons of his race, the Talon's of Horus gloves... at his request, Man at Arms builds him the mechanical wings to help him fulfill his vow to avenge his people and reclaim the skies from the perpetual darkness..
