Took a DC Direct Mongul and just plain saw the old-school Monger in it. Don't ask me how or why. SO... Sculpted the head and various areas over the body to smooth out the muscle tone into the flat armor plates of the old-style Iron Monger. This is evident in the lower waist, arms, legs, and back. I added a thicker plate layer to the upper chest area around the center chest-light--it's very thick and solid. Next I sculpted around the arms and hands to smooth and shore up the look. I left the giant rivets' in Mongul's suit because I thought it would look like metal bolts. I then took a few shocks and gear shafts from a Matrix movie's Mech defender that the humans used in the films to add some old machinery to it. I added some twisted yellow and black charm bracelet wires to give the appearance of electrical power cords sticking out from the back and one arm. I know that wires don't make for a clean suit by modern era standards, but it's not unlike older mechanized stuff. I primed it black, then a light dusting of flat aluminum. Next a dry-brushed layer of dark gray, then light gray, and another top coat of dry-brused flat aluminum. The eyes and chest light power supply are painted with flat white edged by clear blue for the 'lit up' effect. Anyway it's more of a plain, 'old-school' style look, but it's freakin' HUGE! Comment/critque away--and thanks for looking!! -Fitz- ![]() |
