Original Golden Armor Iron Man Description
This is a Marvel Legends style Original Golden Armor Iron Man action figure, which features the styling of Iron Man's original all-gold armor as seen in the Tales of Suspense comics #40 - #48 and the "earth's mightiest superheroes" Avengers comics #1 and #2 circa 1963. This armor might best be described as a "transitional prototype" design - appearing between Tales of Suspense issues #47 and #48. It features the dominant traits of Iron Man's original early armor - the "welders apron" look, the pop-up shoulder antenna, and the pseudo "bucket head" helmet. Note: rather than make a pure "bucket head" helmet, I've kept the faceplate removable so that you can show Tony Stark's face if you wish (it was a personal preference). It also has the cuffed gloves and boots, as well as the segmented fingers and feet that would become a part of the modern Iron Man's iconic red and gold appearance. Naturally this figure's armor is the classic all "gold" which gave rise to Iron Man's nickname - the "Golden Avenger". The figure is based off of Iron Man series 1 and retains most of that figures articulation. Obviously the torso and head, with this style of armor, has no movement. The legs are somewhat limited by the "skirt" - but are still functional and the knees are fully bendable. The arms have virtually no limitations and can be displayed with the most dramatic of poses. I've tried to demonstrate the figure's articulation in the photos shown. ![]() |
