Ok guys, I know you saw this coming, one of you even requested it… I hate that I can't comment back on these posts, I really don't know what is up.. is it a Mac thing?… Anyway This is my counterpart to my Movie Masters Christopher Reeve Superman. The head is a cast of the New Krypton Superman figure with the hair chopped off and then sculpted over with Apoxie Sculpt and then undercoated in blue for that photo realistic shine. The glasses were a challenge. I think I did these 3 - 4 times before I had to just say "This is good enough". They are made by taking a hot glue gun and basically injecting the glue directly into the eyesockets until you have a good oversize dallop of glue that you can subtractively sculpt back out. of. After the glue cools (you can even freeze it or dump it in cold water to speed it up) you take your exacto and chisel away to shape the frames. When doing the lens side of the glue you need to make sure your stroke allows you to slice straight through in one shot so you don't leave the "glass" looking more like it was sawed on. After you have the frames shaped you can take a lighter and wash bak over the glasses over and over to let the glue bead back up and round out. Once that's done you just take a sharpie or fine paint brush and draw your frames in. This series is definitely not over :) ![]() |
