Okay, here goes. I needed a few more villains for my custom Superboy figure collection. So, back re-reading New Adventures of Superboy, I came across issue #48 in which Lex Luthor uses a device called a "Power Transmitter" that looks like it was built out of an old style cannister vacuum cleaner. Lex uses the power transmitter to steal Superboy's powers and transfer them into himself, thus becoming a super-powered being. While in possession of Superboy's powers, Lex wears a skintight dark purple, yellow, and black costume emblazoned with his initials as a symbol on his chest. So, I set about creating him in figure form.

Anyway, this was a pretty simple custom to put together. I took the Crisis Series 3 Earth-Prime Superboy, removed his head, arms, hands, and legs, and used Tamiya Putty White to fill in the grooves of his chest symbol, thus making his chest smooth. I removed the belt, boot tops, cape symbol, and trunks from his legs using my Dremel, and after using Milliput to create the new belt, new boot tops, and the wristbands, I gave the figure a full body repaint. Once all paint had dried on the body, I reattached all body parts except for the head. Next, I used a little more Tamiya Putty White to fill in the area of the cape where the symbol had been, sanded it smooth, and then repainted the cape.

Next, I used my Dremel to excavate out a new hole in the head and also remove the small portion of neck from it so that the head and the Superboy figure's neck could fit together nicely and neatly. I next added a bit of Milliput to the neck to build it up slightly and enable it to fit properly. As soon as the Milliput had dried, I sanded it smooth, and used my Dremel to remove the ball portion of the Superboy's neck peg, leaving a cyllindrical post. I then jammed a glob of Milliput into the newly excavated head cavity and then pushed the cyllindrical neck post in it to create a new peg hole. Once the Milliput had dried, I repainted the neck and hands so that they matched the color of the head. Once all of the paint on the skin was dry, I glued the head in place atop the neck.

Afterwards, I drilled two small shallow pilot holes on his upper chest near the cape and glued two small circular craft beads in place with the flat side out. Once the glue had dried, I repainted each one yellow. Afterwards, I took a large square craft bead and sanded it flat, and then glued it onto the center of the front of the belt and repainted it white once the glue had fully dried.

Lastly, I slapped on his double "L" chest symbol with a little glue (the symbol was made by hand at a larger size, and then photocopied and shrunk to proper size), and TA-DA...Super Lex Luthor from New Adventures of Superboy #48!!!!

Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.

Thanks, though I wouldn't say "RULE"...I think it's more like "DOMINATE" lol. I appreciate the compliment and I'm glad you like the figure.
