Citizen V (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure
I have been making customs of one form or another for nearly 30 years. I started with Megos making custom costumes and just kept going. I have never posted customs on line before because I have been worried about criticism but then I met Buzzy_Fret on another site who recommended coming here. I know I'm not the greatest customizer out there, but I make these for me only. I don't like "washes" on the paint jobs, so it will be rare that you will see any on my customs. Generally, since I'm lazy, by the time I get to painting a figure I just want it done! So I would say that painting is one of my worst skills. Anyway, Citizen V is one of my personal favourites. I love the character but figured I would never see him in figure form so this is my attempt to do that. The base figure was a Daredevil from the Urban Legends box set. The arms came from a Gambit (I think), and the legs from the knee down came from HoM Wolverine. The face mask was sculpted with Sculpey, and the cape was all hand-sewn. I would have to rank sewing as another of my least favourite talents! The sword came from a Disney Pirates of the Carribean figure. Enjoy my first posted custom!! Please wait... |

Thanks Deadi. Citizen V is a character in Thunderbolts. In his first comic appearance it was actually Zemo in disguise as a hero (sorry if that was a spoiler ) and then it was revealed to be a long running family tradition sort of like the Phantom in the old 50's comics. I'm glad you like him and I LOVE your phrase "don't have a scooby..." I may have to use that!
I don't have a Scooby (doo) or don't have a scoob - means don't have a clue
Thanks for telling me the backstory to him...
I been Blind thruout most of the 90s and the beginning of the 21st ecentury - so missed out on A lot of comics -
been catching up, drawing/writing my own comics and making customs once I got my sight back
From the dudes facemask - I thought it was another beetle suit variant
but nice work my man

This cape is actually detachable, which was one of the problems I encountered in making this figure. I wanted the cape to go around the shoulder pads but then I didn't know how to attach the shoulder pads without limiting the articulation. I took a pair of rubbery pads off a McFarlane Metal Gear figure and then sewed the cape right to the pads! Then, to attach everything to the figure, I added a button clasp to each side of the front of the cape right where it joins to the shoulder pad. Then I glued the other half of the clasp onto the figures upper chest and voila -- cape is attached.
And knock on wood, so far it has lasted!!

I'm still learing the sewing thing but it's not too hard. Since I prefer mixed materials in my customs, and hate bugging my wife to sew stuff I just figgure I'd do it myself.
Hope this tip helps.
Mr. X -- I'm glad you like the cloth cape look. I tried a couple of different plastic capes and decided they just didn't have the "flow" I was after. I'm not a big fan of plastic capes. I feel they hamper poseability at times and tend to be too heavy and make my figures stand awkwardly, so I went the cloth route with this guy. I tell you, sewing two different pieces of cloth together by hand is not as easy (or fun ) as it seems (or SEAMS )
I like the mask and the cape, they really add to the character. The fact that the cape is also real fabric looks cool too.
Nice work, looks good
