Well, my Dad just turned 69 and I wanted to get him something awesome for his birthday, but what do you get a guy that already has everything he wants? I decided to throw down on some custom Lone Ranger and Tonto figures, since we both have a shared love for the property (and Westerns in general). Also, he is an artist and used to draw cartoons of The Lone Ranger for me when I was a little kid, much to my delight. It seemed like magic would spring from his fingertips as he drew, and it was hard for me to fathom how anybody could draw with such speed and accuracy. It just didn't seem possible. Anyway, I am very thankful to my parents for getting me interested in pursuing art, as it has enriched my life tremendously. My Dad was pretty stoked on his gift, and says he will cherish these figures forever. Happy Birthday Pops! The Lone Ranger was made using a modded Indiana Jones head (you haven't lived until you've sculpted a bandit mask on a head in this scale lol!), Wild Bill arms, torso, gun and hands, not sure about the thighs but pockets were dremeled off of them, Dreadnok Torch knees, and POC Destro boots. Not sure about the belt/holster. Also his elbow joints were swiped from a RAH Cobra Commander. I tried swapping out joints on this project, using ones that were the same color as my base color to combat paint rub, with mixed results. A lot of times the joints don't fit right, and it's easier to just shave the original ones down. Still - nothing ventured, nothing gained, I guess...it's nice when it works. Tonto was made using a Spirit body and hands, with Wild Bill arms. His loincloth/belt is from an Avatar Neytiri. The head is from a vintage Spirit that was modded to work with the RAH body. I felt that the vintage head worked better with this character. The sculpt on the RAH Spirit is amazing but it reminds me of Johnny Cash for some reason lol. All of the buttons and collars/pockets were dremeled off of the torso. Not sure about where the hatchet came from (the fodder bin!). Mahalo my friends! ![]() |

Those figures look so fantastic! Just like the originals, no doubt! And I own the complete Legend of the Lone Ranger figures, all five of them.
They're awesome!
A priceless gift for your Pops, indeed...
I admire your work a lot and to hear this from you is a real treat.
