My Spider-Man customs continue, with Red Skull?
Yes, I know that he is a Captain America villain, not a Spider-Man villain, but he is still very much an enemy of Spider-Man, you know, with being responsible for the deaths of Peter Parker's parents and all, and he's also appeared in most Spidey cartoons.
There are a lot of Red Skulls being submitted here, and I didn't think I'd make one, since I already had the FO version, but he just looked like a little weird henchman in that armor, not like an important Big Bad, so I decided that in order for Red Skull to earn a spot on my Spider-Man shelf, he had to be customized.

I used Longshot as a base. Had to dremel away a lot of his chest and shorten his neck before sculpting on the suit. I again used fabric for the lower part of the jacket, and I'm not too pleased with that. I think I'm going to start using thin sheets of FIXIT Sculpt for that sort of thing in the future, you'll see on some upcoming customs I'm working on.
Oh yeah, the hands are from Prof X. I hollowed out Longshot's sleeves and glued them there, so they're still as articulated as they should be.
Another important thing I did was to fix the jaw, shutting his mouth. I didn't want him to look dumb, standing with his mouth open! I'm actually surprised that more people haven't done this with theirs.

I'm really happy with the head, especially the eyes, how they stare at you.
The body could have been better in many ways, but that's what happens when you use Longshot to make a suit and I'm still satisfied with the result!

Works for Two face - Psycho Dichotometrically opposed ex-DA
Works for Penguin - the tuxedo/ tails look is termed a "penguin suit" (I just was never kosher with the tophat)
But I agree that some Marvel villians especially kingpin and various ganglords need business suits
My favorite Red skull suit is his nutty Nazi one - nuff said

You know better than me because I don't know much about him. But how does it work then, that there have been several different Red Skulls?
Quoted from Wikipedia:
"Red Skull is the name of three Marvel Comics super villains who are enemies of Captain America, other superheroes, and the United States in general. The first two Red Skulls are Nazi agents and the third is a Communist. The Red Skull was first introduced in Captain America Comics #1 in 1941. The first Red Skull was an American industrialist turned Nazi saboteur, while the second is the arch nemesis of Captain America. The third Red Skull is best known for causing the deaths of the parents of Peter Parker, and thus orphaning Spider-Man."

I know! I checked all Red Skulls before I submitted mine, and yours was the only one. That why I wrote "I'm actually surprised that more people haven't done this with theirs" instead of "I'm actually surprised that no one else has done this with theirs"

Only with the Skull it's not a mask, heh. That's his actual deformed ugly mug.

I can't believe movie poop shoot is an actual site! I feel like I'm sooo outta the loop! On to the suit remarks, all of u who disagreed with me respectfully or otherwise are gonna pay! Expect PM's from me ALL OF YOU! With details of where to meet me @ 3pm today! Well Rpetras, I 4got 2 mention that I love Lex's Super-Powers suit and am fond of the "soup can" one-hilarious! And yes all gangster/real world-inspired villains should obviously reflect their non-spadexy existence. But guys like Skull here should look the counter force of a super soldier! Even his lame green suit was tolerable. I'm sure the armani-suit look was to reflect the 1980's money-hungry decade. I just like him w/some military inspired get up or any of his other looks. Suits are tired as far as I'm concerned but that's cause business tycoon and gangster villains are a dime a dozen. Sorry Lwes your dedication to the "other" guys kicks @$$ y'know I'm not attacking you. As 4 the rest of you though...

Thanks guys! I like villains in suits. About the neck - I found pictures both with and without his neck red and decided to go without, since he's not wearing gloves. And rpetras, if it looks like a halloween mask, that's good, because isn't that basically what it is? Many masks that comic caracters wear look so authentic that when it comes off, you're dissapointed that it was only a mask (Scrier in Spider-Man anyone?)
Anyways, I appriciate the comments and critiques as always!

I agree, as customizers I believe we should add our own flare to a character.... Nice to see a suited skull for a chance. Love how the vest came out.

Actually, in the comics the Skull's neck -is- flesh colored. Only his actual face is red and skully.

I respectfully disagree with redmist, I think villains in suits work just fine. Kingpin, purple man, Hammerhead (a recent submission) and lots of Spidey and DD foes are gangland/mafia types.
And for me, Lex Luthor should be in the purple costume with the green soup cans strapped to his chest, a la Superfriends! :-)
My only critique here is that Red's neck should also be red. It looks too much like a halloween mask with the neck all flesh colored like that.
Can't wait to see your new jacket technique too! Though I like the one you used here just fine.

Good job Lwes. Not many have made him with his biz suit. Longshot he sure is proving to be a worthy custom base. Nice sculpting work BTW. The closed jaw works 4 me. The only reservation I have has actually little to do w/ your custom: Villains in suits. Joker , 2face, Penguin and countless others. The ONLY villains in suits should be Lex and Joker. Well, it actually works for Bats foes, but I feel that comic artists should design cool looking threads 4 the villains!
