tamiya flat flesh. play around with the skin tone by slowly adding brown and a little red to get the base paint . I can go into detail in the custom forums. I have a WIP thread in workstation custom
forum. I'll post some pics as well

wow Thanx! bronze-tan was so difficult to mix. and even trickier to highlight without making it look like an over painted figure. you should see my Hercules custom when I'm done


edit: woops I didn't answer your question. for years I've been using a technique that's the opposite of dry brushing. I'm not sure if there's a name for it but I think artists call it wet-on-wet. after applying the base coat, I paint the figure by sections. I blend lighter colors on top of darker colors while the paint is still wet, to make the highlights subtle. I still want to feature my sculpting skills so I wouldn't want to cover it up by making it look like I painted over canvass

you guys should read the ongoing CONAN series from dark horse comics. Its the perfect reinterpretation of our favorite cimmerian. I think its even better than the actual Robert E Howard stories since the current adaptation is linear.
