Well I finished my Conan, I still didn't have the proper tools or the proper sculping medium, but from a distance I am okay with this guy. Up close all his flaws come out but I think I could do better next time.

Thanks for the kindness but I know this guy is pretty bad. Still I was halfway satisfied with how his skin turned out, except a few unrealistic blotches on the chest. The face is really awful and I don't have the skill to make a good face. If I get an extra Marvel Legend Thor, I might put that head on this guys body.
Like I say, I'm a scale freak. I have seen some Conan's done that look absolutely amazing but are out of scale, that is if I to consider them as 6" figures. I don't guess taking a Marvel Legned's Thor and making Conan would be that out of scale, but like I also say, I think Thor is a little out of scale for Marvel. Thor is supposibly like 6'6" according to Marvel, but he looks about a foot taller than the regular figures like The Punisher, Captain America, Spiderman, etc... It kills me when figures are too far out of scale. Like I love the WWE figures, the WWE Legends figures, I have most of them, but their scale just pisses me off, and I hate that there are only 3 body styles, I want to see INDIVIDUAL bodies. I wish someone with some real skill, like the guy that makes the Conan's out of Thor figures, and also another guy who uses some old Spawn parts to make Conan, I would love to see them make a closer scale Conan. Of course I guess that still is going to be what individual interpretation of the Conan character's size really was.
I wish some more cusomizers would get on here and talk. I see a lot of good threads but not a lot of posts. I bet some of them are too busy on a website . I can't blame a guy for making a buck, but darn some of those figures sell for high dollars. That is fine because these sellers usually start them out fairly low but the bidders seem to pay anything for one of these great figures. I can't justify purchasing any figure, and I mean any, for more than $20 or $30! I had a gentleman on a website tell me he would make me a Conan figure and sell it to me for a set price of, I think, $100. I was nice and just told him that I didn't have the money right now but even if I was very weatlhy I couldn't justify that price. I know there is work that goes into this however as far as money, I know for a fact all that we are out is 7 or 8 bucks for the figure, a few cents or a dollar or two for the paint that goes on this one figure, most of the tools we already have, and then the accessories that we scrounge up from wherever we can find them. It might cost, at the most, $20 to make a figure, and usually a lot less because a lot of cusomizer's find these figures dirt cheap at yard sales, flea markets, salvation army, etc... Then there is the time to make them, but really it's more a hobby than anything. That's definitly all it is for me. I always altered my figures, but I have no real artistic talent and that's where the really great customs come from. I do think I would do better if I bought some better paints, mine go for about 44 cents a bottle , and I need to get some good brushes. I use my son's little kid brushes and toothpicks.

The figure didn't turn out bad for a test run with the Model Magic. He could use a little cleaning up, but I can't do any better! It's funny you said the one thing you liked the Model Magic for was the kilt, just like all the other messages I had found said they used it for clothing. It might get a bit easier with practice. Maybe a real customizer will jump in the forums and offer some tips. There used to be several that posted a while back. I'm not sure where they ran off too.

Thanks administrator's, moderator's, or whoever fixed that for me. Man this guy really needs some fine detail work. I still can't really do a smooth paint job either, there are a couple of things I like about the figure. The skin shading is a tad unrealistic but kind of comic bookish and I"m satisfied with it, the eyes just don't look right, the face in general is a mess and I still need to do something with the hair, and fix some of these paint drips.
