This guy has been mostly finished for a while, but his bow was giving me trouble. I wanted to give him the most comic accurate one i could find, which means using a green arrow bow. Unfortunately, the dcuc bow has that plastic string and an arrow made for a 6 year old attached to it... even more unfortunately, the only proper DCD bow i could find comes with a figure whos like $30... and i'm not going to throw down $30 for a bow. However, i was at the Good Will earlier today, and there was an unopened DCUC green arrow sitting in there for $5... so i figured what the hell, i'll give it a shot. Cut off the string and arrow, and replaced it with cord from the old SMC daredevils batons.

He's all bucky cap with sculpted elements. His quiver is from taskmaster, with a bunch of ends of toy arrows glued in there, and then two removable arrows i made from styrene. I don't remember what his loin cloth is from... just random fodder, and he's done. I'm just one member of the Dark Avengers away from completely the team (not counting noh-var, cause he was with the team for what... a minute?)... Venom, you're next... if i ever get to you.

Great figure, I actually have been considering trying a Hawkeye from Bucky cap too. I'm just trying to find a good chainmail arm to use.. I can't figure out what I can get the lower arm from... But it really irks me when people call it a loincloth.. It's a tabard! You've also successfully avoided the only thing that annoys me more.. When people call the quiver an arrow pouch or something.

haha, fine. I don't know what his "tabard" is from. I can't think of pre-existing arm that would work for his left arm, thats why I just sculpted it. It took a long time, but it wasn't hard. I just did one layer at a time, starting with the row closest to his wrist, and worked up, letting each layer cure under a lamp for around an hour or so before starting the next one. Taking it like that, its really just putting down lines of sculpt and squaring them off.

I just can't tell you how fantastic this figure is! Once again Bucky Cap was put to good use. Kinda bumed though that I passed this figure up but it was 22.99 at my local comic shop though and I just wasn't feeling the price. ARRRGGGGGHHHH, I hate living in Manhattan! Anyway amazing figure I love the sculpted detail on the left arm! Just out of curiousity if you don't mind me asking how much do you pay for these figures around your way?

haha, thanks man. $22.99 is too much. As much as I like some of these ROML figures, it hurts me to even pay the $17.99 at TRU. Now that they're showing up a lot more at target and walmart for around $15, they're a lot more desirable to me. I'm super lucky. I've got a lot of targets, walmarts, and TRUs within about half an hour of me.

Woah they're 17.99 at your TRU the TRU over my way sells for 20.99 plus tax. GOSH they're such JERKS! I did manage to stumble across a Target in the Bronx that had em for abot 17.99 but they only had the usual peg warmers. Haven't been to the one in Manhatttan yet though, maybe I'll give it a looks. Thanks for the response anyway bro it's always great to talk action figures! Ohhh the cons of living in the city.

Yep, also it would be cool to make unmasked Gargan head. And if I will be making him I would give him a regular "Dark Avengers Spider-man" head, than unmasked one and the one that has "the venom teeth" if you remember when in some Dark Avengers issue, he was watching tv and was eating a popcorn? Well, I once again wrote much more than I originally wanted to, but these are just a few of my tips as being BIG Dark Avengers fan. Haha sorry for long text

haha, no biggy. I love the dark avengers too. I wish that arc had gone on longer instead of culminating in the terrible siege event.

oh, haha. I'm having a tough time deciding how to tackle him, cause I only want to make one... but I can't decide if I should do the spiderman sized venom, or the gigantic, monstrous version. The problems related are I can't decide on a good base body on a spiderman sized one, and I know I'd want to use a pitt for the monstrous one, but I don't want to spend that much on a base body

haha. His current costume is a travesty. Just really really bad. I prefer this costume to Hawkeyes classic costume though too. Might be cause this one has sleeves.

Nice job! The costume details are great, and I love the mask!
I ended up slicing the plastic bow string off of my green arrows bow, re-stringing it, and using the plastic string by cutting it in two and making 2 arrows out of it. The first one I took the "toy" arrow it was attached to, cut the ends off, and then drilled into them to attach the plastic string as the new shaft of the arrow. Then it actually is in scale for an arrow for this bow, the original is comically too small to draw on that bow. The rest of the cut ex-bow string got turned into an arrow using fodder from the old bin.
Wow sorry for the essay, this interested me because I just finished that yesterday, when I got a green arrow for $5 at a discount store we have here in canada called winners. Strange coincidence, we both got him for $5 eh?

haha, strange indeed. Mattel is really ridiculous sometimes huh? I'd rather have one good arrow than three that look like they were made for a completely different scale. Not to mention an unsuable bow, and arms that can't pull off an archer pose.
