I really wanted to make Laira. Having read her plight I really thought she was cool and had rarely received the acclaim she deserved. Making small appearances in the Sinestro Corps Special and bit parts here and there, she rarely gets more mention of late, than that of a concubine for Ke'Hann. Laira is an expert in the martial arts of her Home Planet, and is a prime speciment of physical fitness and combat prowess. Having trianed under Ke'Hann, Laira received some of the toughest training a Green lantern could endure, and Ke'Hann showed her no mercy as a female. Born on the Planet Jayd, Laira had to add to her hardships by fighting one known at the time as "Golden Dragon" but in reality was her long believed dead, father Kentor Omoto. Laira is distrustful of the Guardians and especially the Terran Lanterns for she is also a veteran of the "Hal Jordan" incident where she and Ke'Hann were both stripped of thier rings and left for dead.

Mechanics of it:
I chose she-hulk for the sheer bristling muscular beauty of the figure. A little taller than Laira would be according to descriptions but the figure was perfect for her. Well muscled and beautiful with graceful lines uncommon in Marvel legends females.

Upon opening the figure, I realized quickly that the head would not readily interchange with previous legends. Plan B had to be enacted quickly. I removed the hair from she-hulk and forced myself to attempt the sculpting of Laira's hair. Not thrilled with it, it does seem to get the point across and it was my first attempt at sculpting female hair on a totally bald head.

I then sculpted the uniform bits and boot tops with greenstuff, and painted her up. I decided since I had received some requests from Lantern fans, that this time I would not use my favorite Metallic Green for her uniform, opting instead for a traditional green with drybrushed highlights. It seems to look ok that way so I will resist the urge to repaint it in the metallic green. The over-abundance of purple seems to give the Red a strange look. I used 3 shades of red for the hair and belts, my family tells me it looks very orange and I hope it doesn't have a clownish appearance to it. I sculpted the mask with greenstuff.

I hope I did this awesome Lantern and fierce warrior justice, and as always thanks for looking!

He's saying the figure looks a lot like Blink from Marvel, but hopped up on serious steroids.

That is just fabulous GM, I agree that the metallic greens don't look so great on certain characters, glad you went with the old comic-accurate flat-green.

Thank you both very much. I have to admit I was starting to worry that no one would see her! Thanks again fellas. Oh and Dedi, it never dawned on me the whole time I was painting her that the "switcheroo" was going on...in retrospect: LMAO!!!
