I needed a Cass Cain as Batgirl figure, simple as that. I own one DC Direct version, but it was a repainted Ed McGuinness style Elseworlds Batwoman and as such had huge thighs and cartoony proportions. When I found a Scarlet Witch figure in the bargain-ish bin (not cheap enough to be considered a true bargain but oh well) I decided I'd have stab at turning her into the Cassandra Cain version of Batgirl. For the head, I used a 5 inch The Dark Knight Batman head. It seemed like a silly idea to try and make that head feminine, but I figured I could make it work since all facial features are covered by her mask. I dremelled down the jaw and chin areas and smoothed away some of the cowl definition. Then I cut off the ears and made new ones cut from plastic blister packaging, fusing them to the cowl with sculpt. Sculpted over the eyes and mouth areas and added the "stitches", cut from card. The Bat-signal was printed out and painted over, the belt from a DCUC Kamandi (that is a very useful belt) and the Batarang from an older DCSH Batman. The fins/spikes on her gauntlets were also cut from plastic blister packaging, glued on and painted over. Painted everything several coats of semi-gloss and gloss black. The cape especially was a pain, I've heard many stories of capes being unpaintable and got to face that first hand. Even after washing, multiple coats, matte sealant, it's still coming off all the time. On the whole though I'm pretty proud of this one and thank you for having a look! UPDATED with repainted eyes and mouth stitches, and general paint cleanup. Please wait... |
