Hello, Figure Realm! I am Spartacus , and this is my VERY FIRST CUSTOM on this site.
For my first custom, I give you The Champion of Mortal Kombat; LIU KANG!!

Liu is one of my favorite Chars from the franchise and I had ordered his figure about 2 to 3 weeks ago. From the promotional pictures, i was not really impressed with Jazwares's sculpt of the Shaolin Monk's face. To be honest, he looked quite retarded. I never really have trusted Jazwares with face sculpting but i thought that maybe id try to make his face look A LITTLE better. So There wasn't much to this one i could do, so i completely got rid of the painted eyes and eyebrows and painted in my own with acrylic paint. I think it came out okay for an amateur customizer like myself.

Next, I ripped away at his sash and made a cloth sash and belt just using old cloths and foam sheets for the side pads. I painted the elder god dragons on it also.

With all that i tried to make the figure a little bit better than what it originally was, and i was pretty pleased for the most part.


Ive pretty much had to do a repaint on ALL the Jazwares MK9 figures that have come out; Scorpion, Sub Zero, and Shao Kahn(the ones ive purchased) have gotten repaints. perhaps one day i will share them with you.

I am not the best and im just now getting into the custom figure world because i too have a desire to see figures of chars whom i loved during my childhood and even now, treated show accurately and to perfection, and when the toy makers cant make it happen, its up to the fans like us to 'Show them what WE can do'.
