For those that haven't been exposed to the movie Ringu - a Japanese ghost story of an x-file proportion, it should only be watched if the macabre is your cup of tea, and also remember to unhook the phone during the film. The American version The Ring is moreless an interpretation of the original but does well in cinematography. The visuals overdose on surrealism, and gives the movie a bleak, dystopian tone. But inevitably it's the story, and its ramifications that creeps deep. For this custom, the t.v. set is from a Mcdonald's happy meal toy, attached to a base stand, sprayed matte black. It measures 4" high, 3.5" inches wide and 6.5" full length. A dome blister package was cut to fit the screen and a digital print out of the well scene is placed on the inside of the screen. The figure was created using a portion of an Alien facehugger and attached arms from a McFarlane Lotus Angel to the body. The head was from a Mystique ML and synthetic dolls hair was glued to the scalp. Very fine rice paper was used for the clothing and slipped beneath the t.v. screen to appear like she's crawling out. Her right arm retains movement and can swivel. And yes, that's a Genesis Sega system on top of the tevo lol. Don't really need to watch the movie to see what's going on here. It's always a bad thing when a ghoulish seaweed haired girl in a deathbed white dress lurches out of the t.v. uninvited. It usually is too late to run, and besides the curiosity to see what heinous, morbid act she will perform is too riveting to escape from lol. This was created out of fan interest and is an original design. Please wait... |
