Whether he's rolling around in a closet or going over a cliff with his band mates, there's never a dull moment in those Cure videos! Back in the day, Mr. Smith was quite the heartthrob among his legions of screaming goth bangers, so decided to make a "dreamy" version of him, starting with those racy lips, and his sultry stare all heavy on the eyeliner! Tried to get the hair all scrunched and nappy, and cuddly like a spider! Used synthetic dolls hair, glued in several layers, thinned out and wisped with shears/razor. Chose the Twilight Edward figure for its obvious built-in charm and charisma! Got the guitar from a Barbie accessory and the base stand is just a lid from a plastic jar of jelly rolls lol. Resculpted the trainers pigeon-toed and also added a mask from his In Between Days video. In the video, while singing and frolicking, his normal face is suddenly superimposed with an image of a strangely colorful one. He's actually wearing glow-in-the-dark face make-up, but worked better as a mask here. It was made by first wrapping the figure's head with tinfoil (to prevent the apoxie from sticking to the head) and sculpting the mask directly over the face, with a perfect fit. Painted the colors to match the cartoon face in the video. Not sure if he was going for sea sick clown or Chernobyl muppet with that face paint. But that's ok, it's Friday, he's in love! Thanks for checking this one out! Got more Rockers to roll, be back in a jiff! Please wait... |
