Shumo Gorath (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure
I've been wanting to make a Shumo Gorath for some time but wasn't sure how to tackle it because I wanted it to be to scale with marvel legends. I finally decided to make him from plaster after I saw someone make a paper mache tentacle online. I started by building the tentacles. They are newspaper covered in masking tape for the basic form, then I covered that with a mix of plaster and glue and tissue paper to get the texture I wanted. After making all six tentacles(which took some time) I started on the body. I made it in the same way as the tentacles with a reinforced freezy lid for the eye and part of a vending machine capsule for the retina. I sculpted the spikes around the eye. I used paper towels and tissue paper for the eyelid. After that I attached the tentacles to the body by putting them over nails and hot gluing them on so that they are VERY securely attached. Then I smoothed over any gaps. After that I coated this whole guy in a tone of glue and spray on sealant till he felt like plastic to the touch. Then I had some fun painting him up :) P.S. the wall hanging display stand is made from a tupperware covered with a mix of sand plaster and glue to give it a rocky texture and then painted. I hope you all like! :D Please wait... |
