Mad Hatter (DC Universe) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:49528
Name:Mad Hatter
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:DC Universe
Creator:Xysma Warhorse
Date Added:May 7, 2013
Base Figure:Movie Joker
Height:6.00 inches
This is my third version of Mad Hatter, he's a fun character to make. This is a little different for me, I don't do too many full head sculpts, but this one is all original. I cast a top hat from another Hatter figure, full face sculpt over a Question head, and hair pieced together from pieces of a Curse of the Spawn Zeus' beard.

looks fantastic I don't know much about mad hatters costume from the comics and I can't remember the costume from the old tv show (I've only seen him in the arkham game) but I was wondering if there was a reason why there was a 10/6 card on his hat? but once again looks AMAZING

You know, I'm actually not sure about the 10/6, I think I read somewhere is was something like an old british price tag... not sure though.

Thanks! I had a little trouble getting it as smooth as I wanted, particularly in the tight crevices, but I'm pretty happy with it.

An incredible emulation of the character's look in Batman The Animated Series. Even more than that, you've somehow imbued this custom with a really cool, intangible creepy quality. That headsculpt is chillingly effective. Very good work as usual.

Jedd summed this up right on up. Ditto'd. Gr8 sculpt(smart move using Zeus' beard! ) and top notch paints

Thanks Redmist! I figured I'd never use the beard as a beard, so why not use it for hair?

Thanks Jedd! I wanted him to be creepy, but not too over the top scary.

Love that head sculpt...you captured so much personality in that sculpt! Beautiful colors, brother!

Thanks brother! I need to do more sculpting just to practice, but I am happy with this one. I used superfine milliput instead of my usual green stuff, it's way easier to work with. I also really liked the purple wash I used on the vest, they're called Secret Weapon washes and they work pretty well.

Nahice!! I love it but the hat needs the size label

There's actually a story behind that, I cast this hat and sanded off the label to use it for a different figure then ended up using on Hatter instead, by the time I realized what I had done the glue had dried and it wasn't worth starting over! I may go back and add it at a later date though.

Thanks pock63! This was a quick one, I had the idea monday and sculpted the head and then did all the painting in one sitting last night. I love it when a plan comes together!

Thanks man! I find the Animated Batman series has some really great character designs that translate well into "realistic" styles, plus the nostalgia factor makes them fun.
