Okay, here comes another conjectural character, this one based upon the episode of the old Superfriends cartoon, "Universe of Evil", which just so happens to be one of my favorite episodes of the series. In the episode, Superman and his evil other-dimensional counterpart inadvertently exchange realities. The Superfriends series showcased many mainstays of classic Pre-Crisis Superman lore, such as the Bottle City of Kandor, the Phantom Zone, the Fortress of Solitude, the Supermobile, and the Superboy career. Using that last part as my basis, I figured that if the reality of "Universe of Evil" was just a mirror image of the mainstream DC Universe at the time, then it is theoretically possible that the evil Superman, during his career as Superboy, had his own version of Krypto the Superdog.

To do this figure, I took a DC Direct Silver Age Krypto the Superdog from the Silver Age Superboy and Supergirl box set and used the boil and pop method to completely disassemble him. Next, I used my Exacto knife to remove the tiny ring on the cape that allowed the figure to be put on a string to simulate flying. With the ring now removed, I used a small dab of Tamiya Putty White to cover over where the ring had been, as well as fill in the symbol. Once the putty had dried, I sanded it, and repeated the previous steps to make the cape nice and smooth. With the cape now prepped, I commenced a full repaint of the cape with Testors Model Masters Guard Red, Testors Model Masters Insignia Yellow for the collar, and Testors Model Masters Shiny Gold for the collar spikes. Once all of the paint had dried, I gave it two coats of Flat Clear for the cape and collar, and two coats of Gloss Clear for the collar spikes. Next, I used some brush and roller cleaner to strip the white paint from the body and legs, and then commenced a full repaint on the head, body, and legs with Testors Model Masters Engine Gray (I decided to go with Engine Gray for the color of his fur because Engine Gray lent itself to a more sinister version of Krypto...had I left him in white, it really wouldn't have looked any different than a standard Krypto). When the Engine Gray paint had fully dried, I gave each piece of the body two coats of Flat Clear. Once the Flat Clear was dry, I glued the cape/collar back in place around the figure's neck. Next, once the glue had dried, I again used the boil and pop method to reattach the Krypto head and legs to the body. With the figure now fully reassembled, I glued on a new cape symbol (the symbol was made by hand at a larger size, and then photocopied and shrunk to proper size...however, unlike previous hand drawn symbols I had done before, these are drawn with a slight curve to each of the sides as well as a slightly smaller size to more match the look of the "S" symbol of the late Silver Age/Bronze Age of Superboy stories), and TA-DA...Krypto the Superdog as he might have looked on the parallel world of the Superfriends episode, "Universe of Evil"!!!
