When the Gotham City contest was announced I couldn't get Batman characters out of my head. After much searching I happened upon Payback while watching Batman Beyond. To create this unsung baddy I dug into the ol' fodder drawer and I'm happy to say this has been my first custom using only fodder! I found a Shield agent base body, but didn't want to shave off all the holsters and what not on the upper legs, so I swapped for a Ronin's upper legs and head, then added some old DCUC feet, the shawl from Captain Cold, and to finish it off I swapped the Marvel Legends arms out for some leftover arms from a Young Justice Batman.

Next I painstakingly outlined and dremeled the lines around the suit to help give the figure some more texture and cut the shawl at the shoulders to keep it from hindering the shoulder's range of motion. Honestly the dremeling was the hardest part of this figure because it made such an awful mess. Every time I would use the engraving head to dig into the body it would kick up bits of plastic that refused to detach from the figure, so I had some cool looking grooves with "fuzzy" plastic all over. Many hours with sanding sticks ensued until the grooves were nice and smooth.

To make the electro-whip I found some GI Joe ninja weapon to use for the handle and a piece of wire covered in hot glue and painted with clear blue.

I painted the figure with Testors and Tamiya paints and used several washes and dry-brushed highlights. Now Payback is ready to take on Terry McGuiness and punish all those he sees fit!
