This custom was more of an experiment, than a serious custom. A while ago, I saw a 3.75" Stark Racing Armour Iron Man custom. The thing that caught my attention, was that it was coloured with just Sharpie markers. I've used black Sharpie to colour joints before, it doesn't rub off like paint. So, I thought...what the heck, let's try a whole figure.

I was planning on making an Iron Patriot, eventually. I had an extra Stealth Mk. IV that I used for the base. I painted him black, and then went over him with silver. Then, I went out and bought some Sharpies. Red and blue, and a while later, and he was practically done. Sharpies are definitely not as good for fine details. There were a few areas I had to clean up with silver and redo. I used a paper punch and cut out a star from foil tape, for his chest. Overall, he came out okay. The Sharpie goes on pretty evenly, if you take the time to do it slowly. He has a nice, candy-metallic effect. He's pretty durable. But, I'm not so sure if I'm going to replace my transparent paints with Sharpies, just yet. ;)

I'm, also, trying to get a nice setup for pictures going. I bought some lights, but the bulbs I have are waay too bright and harsh. I need to go get new bulbs. Not sure if I like the flat black better than the white. Oh well, any suggestions?

Thanks for looking! Hope you enjoy, and God bless!

Fascinating. I have used Sharpies top black out joints too - no rubbing off, but I have never considered using them to go over silver for a metallic look. Gotta say that came out really nice. I do find that the transparent paints over silver is not as durable as I'd like. This could be a great new technique to use. I'll have to try it out.

Awesome job man, looks really good! I've done that sharpie joint trick myself but I've never even thought of doing a whole figure that way. Impressive,..most impressive.
