I'm not sure what compelled me to do Gamora (other than she's very easy to do, kicks butt and her designs is mostly generic and reusable). Like my other customs, she was modeled in 3D then 3D printed through shapeways and painted with cheap acrylics. The sword was 3D printed too, taken as is from an old medieval 3D model I had done years ago. Nothing to be proud of but was readily available. She also reuses the hair from my Songbird custom and the cape (with the necessary changes) from Powergirl. The face is a blend between the one I used on Songbird and Powergirl and a new Afro American face I added to the mix since then. The Silver Surfer in some of the images is the new Marvel Select Silver Silver... and it was fun to invest a bit more into taking the pictures. ![]() |

I hope the light sabers serve you well!
I think I'd probably give the credit to the plastic, I just paint solid colors and the plastic takes on paint rather well and makes it pop nicely. I just finished a Skyrim inspired barbarian figure and I think I'll try some more complex painting on that one for the fur etc... that will probably require some actual skill, so we'll see how that turns out
I hope someday we can get these 3D printers cheap as we do deskjets today
While we wait for that time, do you have any plans on making plain buck bodies for retail bro?
If by retail you mean proper, industrially produced bodies, then I'm afraid no. I'm not sure I even want to start thinking about what it would take to get that done. My hope is rather that 3D printing will just keep getting better and cheaper
While not everything is up yet (got distracted), the shapeways store linked above with the figure has some plain bodies now and a collection of swords and axes for 6-7 inch and MOTU figures, with more weapons on the way
If you wait a week, there should be a lot more things for sale on shapeways, including other blank figures with blank uniforms (as opposed to the naked one right now) plus the stuff I'm currently working on at the bottom of that page: http://www.figurerealm.com/forums/viewt ... 7&start=75
