Thought about submitting this one for the Mythic Might contest but though it would fit better in the Comic Fusion 2. Some background, my daughter is going to be on a medical rotation in India for her program. I had custom figures for the other kids and was trying to come up with something for her, enter Nurse Kali. I work in the medical field myself so I know that nurses are one of the hardest working members in the field. Multitasking would be easier with multiple arms, soooo. I used the upper torso of Spiral and the lower of Witchblade. Sculpted the the scrubs and the watches. I was able to find an old Playmobil doctor's kit complete with stethoscope and first aid bag.
I think it would have been worth your time to try to find a normal replacement for that fully cybernetic arm from the Spiral toy, covered it up with a long shirt sleeve, or smoothed out the detail and painted it blue, because it looks out of place with the rest of the figure and doesn't jive with your character description. Other than that, I think your Nurse Kali custom looks great, and she's a refreshing alternative to the many superhero entries for this challenge. I like the casual outfit; I can't say that I've ever seen Kali depicted in normal clothing, but the look definitely suits her. If you think of the stethoscope as a whistle, she also looks a lot like a gym teacher to me.
I did consider changing the arm, but my fodder supply is limited at best. I also thought about sculpting over it. In the end I decided why not leave it, somewhat symbolizing an aspect of healthcare, the prosthetic limb. I work in Physical Therapy and work with patients with artifical limbs on occassion so why not.
This is SO AWESOME! I love Hindu gods and Kali is one of my favorites! I work in healthcare, as well, and having nothing but respect and admiration for nurses! This deserves 5 stars!
