Hi everyone...with this custom I'm going take it back to the golden age of arcade gaming of one of the most beloved and memorable games ever created by Sega. During this arcade era Sega was bringing out hits like Space Harrior, Hang-On and Afterburner II, but their excellent driving game called Outrun was the biggest hit from that group.
When sega distributed this game back in the mid-80's at local arcade rooms. It had a steering wheel, gear shift and gas/brake pedal to control & drive one of the most exotic cars ever made..the Ferrari Testarossa . For many young kids who played this game, it was the beginning of driver education. The Ferrari may have been the attraction but the couple (the guy & his blonde girlfriend) that sat inside this car with a view behind their heads while they drive cross country will always be iconic in the gaming world.
Outrun had beautiful colorful graphics and great stage theme music like "Passing Breeze","Magical Sound Shower", "Splash Wave" the initials input end theme "Last Wave" and exclusively for Sega Genesis "Step on Beat" . Many still hum to these tunes in their heads even today.

This is what I did to put this Outrun project together. For the dude that drives the ferrari I started with Sota Remy base, attached ML Wolverine arms & gave him LCBH Madman shoes then sculpted his lower pants and wrist watch. Then I used face off ML Daredevil head and painted his glasses black. His blonde girl friend that rides shotgun I used Sota Cammy base, attached Sota Mika arms with neca April Oneil hands. Her calves and ankles are from ML Elektra with DCUC Raven shoes. The head I used is ML Rachel Summers and sculpted some shorts. Finally painted them in their game colors.
Next thing I had to do was to find a 1:12 scale Ferrari Testarossa kit by Monogram. The car needed a lot of modification inside & out. First I had to cut inside and placed a magnet on the dash board and steering wheel to make it removable to create some leg room for the figures to sit inside. Next step converted the car into a convertible by cutting off the top half. Sculpted over and repair the cut area and began putting the kit together then prime & repainted the ferrari hot pepper red and added ferrari decals and painted all the details inside/outside the car. Finally applied the tires and the exotic Testarossa was done.
I tried to give off a 80's vibe for this custom and bring back some nostalgia for those who played this great game. :)

Hope you enjoy
Thanks for watching

What's most beautiful here? the couple? the Ferrari? the scenery? They're all fantastic!!! Sega will always bring back memories of fun, exciting video games and OUTRUN had the graphics, music, gameplay that no other driving game has ever been able to match. Thanks for bringing this back in 3D form, it's perfect! The best picture is when the car wipes out just like in the game, made me LOL seeing that.

Both customs are freaking awesome, but I have one nitpick their heads sit a little high on their necks you might dremel a deeper hole in their heads.

Now, this is a thing of awe and beauty, not to mention something completely out of left field. You definitely put a lot of time and effort into this, and it shows. 5 Stars all the way!

Outrun is my absolute favorite driving game franchise of all time (I never got a chance to try the original coin-op, but I can't tell you how many hours I spent playing the arcade-perfect version on the Sega Ages compilation disc for the Sega Saturn). In my opinion, the original was eventually surpassed by the more recent polygonal Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast (I love the new "Heart Attack" mode where you have to perform various tasks while driving to impress your girlfriend). That reminds me, I never did unlock/purchase all the cars in that game . . .
