So there are quite a few representations of ol Leatherhead here on the realm, most of which pay homage to the Fred Wolf/Archie version of the character. Yet, the way the old gator has been represented more times and in more media outlets is rarely done. The giant mutant gator, savage yet smart, and massive. So I decided to give that version a go. Here he is, at 9 inches tall and a massive piece of plastic, which scaled at the 7 inch scale (like my turtles using the WWE body types) would have him standing at roughly 7.72 feet if scaled up. He's definitely not super articulated, but when your a nearly 8 foot tall gator, agility doesn't have to be your strong suit. Leatherhead: So this is the Michelangelo from a parallel world? Ramona: Yeah, 'andsome fella inn't he? Teenaged Michelangelo: You're a lot less Cajun than I remember...and a lot bigger... Leatherhead: Interesting, so not only do other Turtles exist, but so do...wait a tick, did you say Cajun? Teenaged Michelangelo: I guar-on-tee... I used a Marvel Select Abomination for this, the colors and textures provided an excellent crocodile-like skin tone and base. I sculpted over his speedo of course, painted and blended that with the Select colors, then took a dry brush to the torso to add the yellow tint. The tail was a modified Hydra tail from the Mythic Heroes figures they have at Toys R Us, and the head was pretty much sculpted in it's entirety over the Abomination head, and that was the most time consuming part. Ultimately though I love how this guy came out. ![]() |
