I sculpted the mask over the head and repainted with acrylics. One of the great characters to be used in the JSA books, Grant was killed off during the Blackest Night storyline. I really hate zombie stories. A short while later, the whole storyline of the JSA was a moot point. Their existence was wiped out by the nu52. (Shaking fist at the sky in a futile gesture) "Damn you DC!!"
The costume is a nice homage to Al Pratt's Golden Age Atom togs. The chest symbol proved challenging, I hope it turned out ok.

Really liked the character, but the way he died it was like Jones gave up on him after building a great hero!!

Yeah! The New 52 change way too many good stories and characters , but knowing DC and Comics in general I see it as another alternate Earth , and our beloved mainstream one as other , sure they're focus right now is the New 52 , but I think it's just like the Ultimate universe for Marvel or the Marvel Now current line up (imitation much!) , deep in my hart I still have hope that someday either on of them companies (and the other one following for sure) will somehow (as comics do) bring back the regular universes in the event these new radical universes don't work as expected , they are not gone or erased , merely someplace else waiting to be found again , n comics anything is possible and this Awesomely Cool guy you made will be back , Great Work brother!!!
